His play making is attacking the rim and when he is trapped he then passes. Evans is the kind of guy a team like Charlotte wants. A player that is going to look for his shot first before passing and with has no elite skills. He is a person you love when your team is bad but don't want him on it when it is good. He has an explosive first step but doesn't have elite athleticism, is a bad defender a bad shooter and his play making abilities rely solely on his ability to penetrate and pass out.
I loled at "that range" referencing everything not within 3 feet of the hoop. You don't trade for Tyreke for any of his shooting! He's basically what everyone hated about Bayless when he was here, although I believe he's probably a better finisher at the rim because of his body-type (don't have stats to back this statement up).
I think the Utah Jazz would possibly welcome him back. They have had pretty bad luck at plugging the SG hole since he left.
If the Thunder don't win it all, we should offer Matthews + our best pick for Harden. Add in Babbitt to take back Perkins if they want to shed that salary. Do whatever it might take to pair Harden with Aldridge.
Oh, I was thinking of that as a sweetener for them, that they'd want to get rid of his 8.9 PER and the $25.4M remaining on his deal. If they still want him, then by all means, they can keep him!
According to PER, which doesn't measure Defense! Mathews is a specialist, he was never meant to be a go-to offensive option. The Blazers have always been a defensive minded Team and Mathews fits perfectly, he locks $hit down. Every team needs a Wesly Mathews.
Kendrick is God aweful this season. I guess losing weight really fucked up his game. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to get rid of him.
Ever watch this playoff series? Wes can match up to the likes of Kobe, unlike most.
the Blazers tried to be a defensive minded team but to often we seemed to over help on defense leading to open looks from the perimeter. mathews is definitely an above average defender for his position. Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk 2
I was okay with Wesley's large contract last year because he seemed like a great piece to puzzle -- hungry bench player, capable of finishing in traffic, knocking down open 3's, and playing lock-down defense. But nearly every aspect of his game has deteriorated this year and we're stuck with 3 more years of his deal. The bottom line is he's a bench player, not part of a core. He can't create his own shot, has no dribbling ability at all, and for whatever reason, completely forget how to finish in traffic. His passion for the game and determination to win are two things going for him, and quite frankly, I wish more players took his mental approach to the game. But with Elliot laying in the wings and a plethora of shooting guards available in the draft, I just don't see a spot for Matthews.
