I highly recommend locking up all your guns and giving someone else the key until the gout is under control.

lol, bro I appreciate that, but I'm in pain.....not suicidal or homicidal.

I was yelling something fierce at the monitor last night during that game though.

People will discuss topics like this and vote according to their beliefs and conscience. I believe we all know that without having to say it.

Thanks for avoiding answering my question and deflecting instead. Typical answer from your side. How many times have you had to use your gun for protection in the USA? Why do you need an automatic or semi automatic gun?

@PtldPlatypus, pardon me if you mentioned this earlier. In addition, Alexander Hamilton wrote Federalist 29 which also has some bearing on the 2nd Amendment. Just an FYI.

Here is another site useful for the bibliography:

Twice in 13 years. Once in uniform, and once outside of uniform.

I am 63 years old and have never needed or felt the need to have to use a gun. Maybe I hang out in better places than you have over the years. Why do you need an automatic or semi automatic rifle?

I don't like guns because every pussy that was too afraid to swing on me always wanted to shoot me.

I've literally had people threaten to and one supposedly came looking for me with his friend but I wasn't home thankfully.
All over me talking about his momma, I never could control my mouth.

Good for you. I didn't make enough to live in a nice part of town as a young man.

As I answered in my first post: we live in a country of Wants and Desires, not "needs and requirements". The sooner you get that through your head, the quicker you'll get your answer.

Do you have to justify to me why you "NEED" a 5,000 square foot house? A 650 hp car? A six or seven figure salary? Because I've never met one person who NEEDS any of those things.

HCP NEEDS a 650 hp car. It just slows to about a 300 hp car when you add the driver.

WHY DO YOU NEED AN AUTOMATIC OR SEMI AUTOMATIC GUN?????

Don't reply with another idiotic answer. If you can;t come up with a logical reason then just say so rather than change the subject to 5,000 square foot houses, 650hp cars or 6 or 7 figure salary. That's a moronic reply. Have you heard of a mass killing happening with a 6 or 7 figure salary? a 5,000 square foot house or a 650hp car?

Hey fellas, don't fuck with me or I'm going to land my 5,000 square foot house on you and I make 7 figures and can wipe out the whole neighborhood with my salary. lol

I don't know what you mean by "semi-automatic gun". As in, you want weapons to not have the ability to discharge and re-load? Or that one trigger pull means one round goes downrange? Or...?

I mean, there are people on the site here who've fired weapons I've never fired, but I've done my fair share, and I don't see how making a double-action vice single-action trigger pull makes things safer for the populace or not. I'm pretty sure (though I haven't done it) that there's a lengthy process to procure a weapon capable of automatic fire (one trigger hold makes rounds go downrange until out of ammo or the magazine empties). But magazines/etc don't make it safer or less safe for shooters unconfronted by others. In the Parkland case, the density of fire he was putting down didn't matter if he was firing an AK-47, AR-15, semi-auto Sig pistol or Glock, or ball-and-powder muzzle-loader (which I do know a bit about). Against unarmed personnel (especially kids--I'm not talking about meeting @riverman in a dark alley with his ninja skills) I'm frankly a bit relieved that only 17 people were killed before he decided to stop. That's less than one full magazine (or two in NY and CA) of rifle and exactly one pistol mag ("16 in the clip and one in the hole" - Nate Dogg)

So atomic bombs should be legal? It takes a human to pull the trigger.

When we lose, I frequently put a brick through my tv. The video store knows what happened as soon as they see me coming.

This is an issue of my personal concern...that any civilian would need 16 bullets in a clip for anything at all...a 6 shooter was enough to conquer the wild west..what's the purpose of having that much ammo loaded at any given time that's not combat?
