I see this as a good early measuring stick. The Bulls have no one who can handle Drummond. They can't mail this one in.
Bulls did a nice job on Drummond in Q2. They forced him into being a passer an Drummond sucks at that. Few Bulls played well, but they're still winning. I'll take it.
For those who were wondering what the Hoiberg offense would look like when you can't shoot a lick, here ya go.
Drummond simply abused Gasol. Rose's stat line : 8 pts (4-13 shooting), 6 assists, 5 turnovers. Gasol +/- was -16. Rose was -14.
I didn't get a ton out of the game in terms of on court performance. It felt like a scheduling loss -- third game in four nights, on a mini road trip when no one is in shape. The team missed a lot of good shots, especially in the first and third quarters. One minor takeaway is that I think they have to run this offense with a certain pace or it doesn't work as well. I noticed this when Brooks subbed in for Rose in the third and everything seemed to open up. My main takeaway, though, is that the Noah off the bench situation is not sustainable. He looked so pissed coming out at the end of the second quarter and in the fourth. I think the front office should move him now in an addition by subtraction move, instead of worrying about getting top value. They have to make Fred's job easier and Noah's discontent, which is not unreasonable, seems well positioned to derail this season.
