I notice he didn't bring in Snell, Mirotic or McD in the 3rd. I wonder if they'll get any burn in the 4th.
I'd really like to see Gasol stay on the bench for the rest of the night. Sent from my Venue 8 Pro 5830 using Tapatalk
Wroten is a seriously spunky guy. In general I think this 76ers team will be fertile ground for role-player poaching in free agency. They have a lot of scrappy guys who would do very well as 9th or 10th men, and the sixers are basically their developmental league for them.
There were only two things that weren't annoying about that game: 1). We managed to finish with three more points than the sixers. 2). The constant sound bytes from Thibs on the sideline throughout the second half. I especially liked the F bomb after the Sixers hit their second three at the end.
I was listening to the Sixers broadcast for the game and was surprised that Malik Allen does their color commentary. I wasn't aware that he ever played for them. I affiliate him with the Spurs.
I like how Stacey explains plays when showing instant replay. I wish he'd do more of that and drink a lot less coffee.
My impression of Stacey King is that he understands the game very well but sticks to his schtick because that's what gets ratings. His antics are amusing enough but I agree that I'd like to see more cerebral Stacey and less cracked out Stacey.
I don't think the game would have been so close if Thibs didn't bring the starters back. They didn't really want anything to do with the game and it reinvigorated the Sixers. Noah makes three of four bad plays in a row, and boom, it's a ball game again. Funny how things work sometimes. It makes me sad to see him coach this way. The team is not going to make it through the end of the season in one piece, and Thibs is going to be left trying to explain why he played Gasol 40 minutes a game.
I actually don't have a problem with how Thibs played his rotations. Going into the 4th the starters had a +20 point differential and it was clear they could handle the sixers. The bench on the other hand, was abysmal. They put the team behind in the first half and were in the midst of a scoring drought that was allowing the 6ers to cut into the lead. If I recall correctly the score was 109-100, the lead had been 16 points a few minutes before and the Bulls hadn't scored a basket in about 3 minutes. I don't blame Thibs for not wanting to piss away games in critical moments. Jimmy got 40 minutes, but he's the one guy we shouldn't mind getting lots of burn, and who's well equipped to handle it. Pau had 34, and the rest of the starters were right around 30. I don't see the fire here. And it's not like these were high intensity minutes. The whole team played like it was a scrimmage the entire game. I didn't detect one iota of urgency from anyone. At all.
