The Bulls are hot behind the arc so far this season, ranking fifth in the NBA for 3-point percentage (.361). Chicago is averaging 9.8 made 3-pointers and 25.4 3-point attempts so far this season. If both numbers hold, they would be highest for the franchise since 1979-80. Prior to this year, the Bulls highest average for 3-pointers made was 7.9 and for 3-point attempts was 22.3 – both from 2014-15. The Bulls’ 9.8 3-pointers per game rank third in the NBA behind Charlotte and Golden State (tied with 11.5 3PM/gm). Rookie Bobby Portis made his NBA debut on Nov. 3 at Charlotte, scoring 10 points in 10 minutes on 5-for-7 shooting. He is the 25th player in Bulls history to have a double-digit scoring career debut, and his 71.4 field goal percentage is the highest of any Bull in his first NBA game (min. 5 FGA). Doug McDermott played a career-high 30 minutes at Charlotte on Tuesday, scoring a career-high 17 points and dishing a career-high three assists in the game. McDermott ranks eighth in the NBA in 3-point percentage this season (.600, 12-for-20). He has hit 12 treys already this season … Through 36 games in his rookie year, McDermott hit 13.
The emphasis on the 3-pointer is clearly the current NBA trend. I confess that it makes me itchy, but I'll adjust.
Just heard that McDermott will be starting at SF rather than Snell. Unless I miss my guess, McDermott will match up defensively with Roberson, not Durant.
Butler smoking! Rose looked awful the first quarter. Looked much better second quarter. Noah, Gibson bringing it on defense. Snells looks ok, not great. Made two very bad passes in the back court that a 3rd year player should not make. Niko can't score.
