I'm only 33 and I hate being driven around... Like Taxi's, Ubers, the Max, about the only thing I'm cool with is airplanes. I'd literally rather walk if it's an option say like less then 10 miles or so.
Rent control is just another tool/step of the Deep State , 1%, socialist coup that engineered the crash.
Those are not renters, those are homeless people with no money or homes. No amount of rent control will ever provide anything at all for them or their problems. Their problems were created by the people who are now imposing rent control on Oregon. Take a good look at them, maybe call dibs on a spot there for the future just in case.
In your scenario were socialists unregulating the lending and financial markets and creating derivatives? Seems more like a capitalist ponzi scheme to me.
My rent has gone from 775 per month to 1300 in 4 years. Nothing has changed at my place. Not even my paycheck. The only thing that changed was the manager 8x and owner of the property. They're "developers" from California. Fuck. Them.
You should try the Motorcycle. Man! The sense of freedom! And then the sense of oneness with the earth! You just need to take care of not making that oneness, total.
...I still need to get interpretation on these new laws, but so far it is a big fat NAY! If I understand correctly, I won't be able to sell me rental property in a couple years like I had originally planned because my renter has already been there for 1.5 years and the new law will prevent us from terminating the month-to-month lease in order to sell our house? That seems awfully invasive to me -- I should be able to sell my property whenever I want, regardless of current rental/tenant situation
From what I've read, the Bill requires landlords to give tenants 90 days’ notice of eviction and pay them one month’s rent. Link to summary of Senate Bill 608 from the Oregon Association of Realtors site: https://oregonrealtors.org/sites/default/files/Senate Bill 608 summary.pdf
Honestly rent is incredibly out of control and kind of helped me go into we should just buy a home mode (and I'm glad we did) our house payment is much less then what most people for rent these days. Not sure I like this bill, but we do have a big problem with people not being able to afford to put a roof over their families head. The more I read this bill, my heart kind of likes the direction of it, my head doesn't really like the bill itself though.
