White House blocks CDC from testifying on reopening schools next week

The White House is blocking US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield and other officials from the agency from testifying before a House Education and Labor Committee hearing on reopening schools next week, just as the debate over sending children back to classrooms has flared up across the US.

White House officials informed the committee of its decision in an email, a staff member on the House panel told CNN.
"Dr. Redfield has testified on the Hill at least four times over the last three months. We need our doctors focused on the pandemic response," a White House official said, confirming the decision to block the CDC's participation in the hearing.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I think it's just badly made and most states are doing partial re-opening.

No, I think they are lumped in with the states that are allowing a partial reopening. Some of the places have colors that are of slightly different shades.

The 2 weeks of training that was supposed to start Monday leading up to daily doubles for my daughter HS soccer team just got cancelled. Daily doubles are scheduled to start Aug 17th and season starting August 31st....... they have pushed back the 1st game to September 23rd at the EARLIEST! Starting to get a feeling fall sports are going to get yanked. Very sad about this.

Yeah, it's a bummer, but it is probably the smart thing to do. It is not just sports, the competitive high-school marching band season has been pretty much cancelled, all other intra-school band activities likewise, school is going to be very different. Not a real surprise, but it's a bummer.

Send your daughter to Florida or Texas. Nothing will stop their high school sports.

My daughters HS team is just practicing 2 days a week right now mainly conditioning. Hopefully they will be able to play. Feel bad for all the kids wanting to play football, that is not going to happen, at least in the fall, maybe in the spring. Can't imagine there is anyway wrestling happens this year.

Unfortunately, this is the new normal.

This was last year's graduation at my kid's highschool:

These kids are going to have a very different experience than most people when all is said and done.
