Rep. John Shimkus said the reasons the Affordable Care Act is unpopular is that it makes men pay for prenatal care. He asks why he should pay for prenatal care? (The notion that it might be popular with women for that reason is apparently above his pay grade.) Apparently the "honorable" Congressman is unaware that men play a part in pregnancy. Or that about half of all fetuses, you know, those fetuses conservatives claim to love so much, are male. So - no birth control. No Planned Parenthood to provide women's health care. No abortion. Cut Medicaid so birth expenses won't be covered. No prenatal care. I mean, obviously our fault, if we sluts had not insisted on having vaginas this wouldn't happen, right?
I wonder about the whole ableism angle in the current health care bill. I talked to a friend who works in health care policy for the state. She says some places won't be hit as bad but other states where they rely so much on federal dollars they won't be able to replace that money. The mentally ill not covered by SSI-Disability or Recovering Addicts will be "up against it" as the English say. Some of the people behind this bill strike me as the types who were behind the eugenics movement at the turn of the century.
This is the same media that said that Trump would not be elected. It's never over until it's over.....but one can hope.....
The war going on right now is hilarious, Ryan and Priebus are telling republicans if they don't vote for it they won't get any money from the RNC for reelection and the Koch brothers are telling lawmakers if they do vote for it they won't get any of their super pac money.
Man, these Republicans in the Congress are really disappointing. At this point I can't see any difference between the bulk of them and many Democrats. We have a healthcare system in shambles and health insurance no longer exists. They don't seem to even know where North is when it comes to fixing it. At this point, I think Trump needs to manage this fiasco, taking a new tack. Tell Ryan to back off, and move on to the next item on the agenda. Put Health care on the back burner until August when you actually roll out a free market nationwide insurance plan and corrections to the healthcare system. At the same time ask the Democrat leadership to bring forth a plan for National healthcare system to replace Obama care that will get every Democrat's vote. Ask Ryan to schedule a vote on both in August where one of the plans will become law. The way things look more Republicans would vote for the Democrat plan than anything the Republicans can come up with. This is too important to just let disintegrate. If the Damn Congress cannot get this fixed, then perhaps a Convention of the States is needed, started by the Governors.
If you want the govt to fix healthcare...remove them all from healthcare benefits and their families and let them start from the bottom...if you really want to fix govt.....stop electing wealthy and entitled people to office
They should receive the same health care they pass through law for everyone else. They want to raise premiums by impossible percentages, they should have to pay that too and see what it looks like. They get to sit safely behind special government coverage, fuck that.
