I accept your admission that you haven't followed the policy debate and don't know how these things work.
I think it's repugnant to say that only women should be charged group rates for prenatal care, because only women can have babies.
You are saying women should pay increased premiums because they are the only ones who can have babies. That's ridiculous.
Of course I have. The proposal is to expand medicare to cover more people. Just like they did with medicaid under ObamaCare. You realize ObamaCare cut $500B+ from Medicare, right?
They should pay less ($0) for prostate care or other men's health issues. It's ridiculous that they do have to pay for that.
Assuming that it would remain unchanged when it's available to the entire population rather than a small segment is both silly and not what anyone has actually proposed. But I know you know that and are just pretending otherwise. I respond to you mostly so that others can read the response in case you're muddying the waters for them (which is likely your hoped-for purpose).
3 GOP senators come out against McConnell’s repeal-only plan How soon before there are calls to replace McConnell with someone who isn't incompetent?
You're saying insurance companies must insure a house on fire for the same price as a house not on fire? Or that they should be forced to charge the same rates for a driver who's been in 6 accidents as one who's been in none? Or a teenager and an adult? Or that they can't factor risk (which is what insurance is all about) into making good business decisions? Insurance is NOT health care.
Yes, pregnancy is unnecessary. Got it. Eliminate the entire human race and health insurance problem is solved. Sound reasoning there.
Everyone is super excited, taking the monorail in to the entrance. And then the gates open... Welcome to DennyWorld! The most magical Place on Earth! I heard I can get health insurance here! Oh we specialize in health insurance! I just need to know some basic information from you to get you a quote. I need to know your race. Wait? What? Why do you need to know that??? Well, here at Denny World, we make sure you only buy insurance that is truly customized for you! You won't pay any more premium than you should based upon your profile. We don't think the government should control whatsoever how we price our insurance and we take every risk factor into account. Depending on race, we have statistics for your propensity of skin cancer, lung cancer, and of course diabetes as well. It's very important information! I don't want to charge you too much or too little. This way we make sure you just pay for the insurance you need based upon your risk factors. Are you sure? That seems like you are doing racial profiling? Well yes, we are! But our great forefather Denny has proclaimed that you should only be charged for what you need and are likely to use! So, don't worry you are going to be charged the right amount. I also need to know your gender. Wait? Really? Well yes... really.. It's very important! You see here at DennyWorld we don't make men pay for women related treatment or women for male related treatment. I mean I know they had no control whatsoever over their gender, but it's only fair that women pay for their own care and men pay for their own care. That's true freedom! Well, okay, I don't want to be accused of being a terrorist... Don't worry. Women can get hysterectomies and then they get an insurance discount. Let's see, I also need to know your sexual orientation and the sexual orientation of all of your beneficiaries. Ok.. this is getting ridiculous... why do you want to know this? Oh it's very important! It helps us factor in whether you are likely to become pregnant. It's relevant for sexually transmitted diseases. Also, because of the stigma LGBT folks carry, it is relevant for potential risk factors such as substance abuse and mental health treatment. I'd also like to know your religion... Am I being punked? Oh not at all! You see, certain religions believe in circumcision, others don't. Some religions are against birth control, others aren't. All of this is very important information. We need to make sure you are not charged more than you owe! Well, what about the people that don't believe in birth control? Do they pay more than me? Oh absolutely! You wouldn't want to be charged the wrong amount would you?
Nothing in recent years is like Health Care in drawing a stronger contrast between, doing the right thing, and the desire to be re elected. We need term limits if we are ever to get logical decision making. Without it, we will be governed by the best pandering money can buy.
If you say so dog. But you know, he (the President) already has an amendment limiting his terms. I would like the same for the Senators. I am sure it would change their perspective, and even more important, remove some fear.
