Well, I wouldn’t go that far. But even if he wishes he were on the Heat, I believe he would still play hard.
I definitely would go that far. Ask yourself this. How many times have you been on a team, doing a job, in a relationship, traveling somewhere that making you happy or successful that you think about "This is great, but I wish I was with this person, or doing this job, or playing with these teammates, or visiting this locale instead"? I'm guessing the answer is not very often, because most times people are happy and having their needs met, they are living in that moment and not seeking a replacement for it.
I'll add one qualifier to this. If Dame's goal is to be on a competitive team that he can help win a championship ... if not having that is the reason he asked out, then he won't care if he's on any other contending team in a good locker room. If he asked out of the Blazers more specifically because he wanted to hang out with Jimmy Butler on South Beach on off-days, then yeah, in that case, his mind or eyes might wander from time to time. I guess I was taking for granted that, based on what his circle was putting out there, his prime motivation was the former, and, seeing what we have from him over the last month, that very easily could have been just a half-truth or even an outright lie.
I truly believe this too. Dame might be venting through his cryptic tweets and music but his personality won't allow him to not be a team player. We just need a few teams to step up and truly believe acquiring Dame is very doable and he eventually will be on board with said new team.
