http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/20/us/politics/donald-trump-republican-party.html?_r=0 Republican leaders adamantly opposed to Donald J. Trump’s candidacy are preparing a 100-day campaign to deny him the presidential nomination, starting with an aggressive battle in Wisconsin’s April 5 primary and extending into the summer, with a delegate-by-delegate lobbying effort that would cast Mr. Trump as a calamitous choice for the general election. Recognizing that Mr. Trump has seized a formidable advantage in the race, they say that an effort to block him would rely on an array of desperation measures, the political equivalent of guerrilla fighting. There is no longer room for error or delay, the anti-Trump forces say, and without a flawlessly executed plan of attack, he could well become unstoppable. But should that effort falter, leading conservatives are prepared to field an independent candidate in the general election, to defend Republican principles and offer traditional conservatives an alternative to Mr. Trump’s hard-edged populism. They described their plans in interviews after Mr. Trump’s victories last Tuesday in Florida and three other states.
The article mentions Tom Coburn and Rick Perry as potential 3rd party candidate supported by the republican establishment. If you like Kasich, you'll like Coburn. The guy lives and breathes public policy and isn't a hard right winger. Quite likable. He is recovering from cancer, though. It seems to me the media is making a big stink over this backroom kind of dealing. I'm not sure any of it amounts to much. Bill Kristol? Isn't he just about completely discredited by now?
I'm just fascinated by the twists and turns in this election cycle. I really don't know how it's going to play out, it will make a great movie.
Love him or hate him, what Trump is doing to disrupt the establishment is what this country is all about. And we have these fuckers trying to fuck him over with these typical political tactics and bullshit.
Make fun of his hair some more. That'll teach him. Maybe a good smear campaign with a picture in high school of him snorting a white powdery substance. Stock the bathroom stalls at every air port with little boys and interrupt his sex life until he accidentally places his dick in a mouth.
Good parallel there. Germany was devastated by the treaty of Versailles, and Hitler promised to turn things around. Today we are devastated by 8 years of Obama.
I was actually not making the trump/hitler comparison that many others have declared. I was pointing out that just cause a bunch of people are supporting a possible leader doesn't mean it's democracy, and certainly doesn't mean it's going to remain a democracy. People are wrong all the time, as individuals and as groups. Just cause I can show you a crowd of folks excited to hear Hillary, Bernie, Trump, Cruz or Palin speak doesn't mean that it's going to turn out good for the country.
But it is (and was) democracy. People wanted Obama, now look at who people want. People are wrong all the time. Those of you who think the Constitution is a living document might change your tune if Trump wins and pulls the same crap the left has done all along.
Democratic Party constituency likes Trump. What have you done for me lately, if at all? http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/20/b...s-see-costs-not-benefits-of-global-trade.html
The Republican leaders must be deaf, blind, and stupid. Rubio had a decent chance to beat Trump until he stopped talking about the issues. His campaign message became an anti-Trump message, which made him look pathetic. The more the Republican leaders try to derail Trump, the more pathetic they look. This derailing campaign will push more voters towards Trump, the same way Rubio’s anti-Trump campaign did. People are tired of the back stabbing politics, from both parties. They are angry and ready to take a chance on someone new. The more the leaders of both parties attack Trump, the more support he will gain. Trump's weakness is his lack of knowledge on the issues. Details of issues and his lack of a real platform is what they should be making Trump talk about. Talk about the issues, don't encourage Trump to talk about himself. Ignore Trump, go after the issues.
I'm so glad the Republicans want to make sure Hillary wins. I'd prefer Trump's hair stylist over Hillary but what do I know? Maybe I wouldn't prefer that, there has to be a limit on what Hillary will do for money. Trump's hair dresser? Probably kill her gramma for money if she'll do that haircut.
No Republican Party candidate, (Trump is not one any more than Bernie Sanders is a Democrat Party candidate), has a chance of winning. The Republican Party is dead, and the Democrat Party is terminally ill. It's nice to see a dual revolution taking place. Too bad they can't unite around their common goals. Barring an assassination, Trump will beat Hillary and be our elected President, that much is obvious.
Republican Leaders Map a Strategy to Derail Donald Trump We'll all be planning that route We're gonna take real soon We're waxing down our delegates We can't wait for June We'll all be gone for the summer We're at convention to stay Tell the teacher we're nominatin' Nominatin' U. S. A. barfo
