You're under the assumption that Pop/Duncan/Buford would still be hailed as great even if they didn't win championships... which is not the case. They don't become the compared without winning.

We would need to win to be compared, I think. We are good, but no where near them if we dont have the results.

 

Pessimist? Low-Baller?

How many superstar players would you say "get it?"

I would say Dirk for sure. Duncan. Wade. Those guys all took paycuts to bring in other players to help win championships. Obviously Dame hasn't done that, but he also hasn't had a max contract yet. Those other three guys had all been maxed and completely comfortable monetarily before they were in a position to take a paycut. I'm just saying I see that in Dame. I could see him taking less to bring in better guys or keep his team together. He has already exhibited more leadership than most young stars ever have.

Stotts has a knack for developing castoffs, much in the same way that Pop does. He seems to understand how to maximize the talent he's given.

Neil is an extremely good judge of talent and character. He has done a great job of finding the right pieces to fit into the right holes.

If you want to use winning as the only metric, then yes, you're right, but I'm saying in terms of the symmetry between the three pillars of the franchise, I see a lot of similarities.

 

I guess I can see where you're getting it... a little premature on the money aspect (Although, I do also think Dame would take a paycut... but, only time will tell)...

Although, my only halt is that "stotts has a knack for developing castoffs"... well, and maybe this was because of our potent starting 5... but we had a REALLY bad bench for 2-3 years there. It was only until this year that we've had a solid bench under the tutelage of Stotts. Now, if the trend continues that he can develop talent (and some credit should be given to the assistants as well), then we can say that it was the starters of those teams holding the bench back, rather than Stotts not being able to have a good bench. So, there's still a wait and see on THAT, as well.

 

That would be nice. Would have been nicer if I was called optimistic instead of delusional though. But I would understand those lowballing pessimists who didnt mind calling the optimists delusional would have an issue with being called pessimistic or low balling.

Just sayin. you cant have it both ways.

 

The thing is, even if someone were to say "optimistic" it still sounds condescending. Like "Ha! Really dude, that's optimistic". lol. At least, over the internet it sounds like that.

First. Let me state that I went back over ten pages of threads and couldn't find a second thread. Not sure of the title name, so if someone knows, let me know and I will go through it and update. Otherwise. This is all from HCP's official win prediction thread.



The Blazers are currently 30-27. Basically I am considering anyone who is a +/- of 1 a win, which will be represented in Green. Losers will be in Red. The unknowns will remain Black.

KingSpeed is next on the hit list and needs the Blazers to go undefeated the rest of the way in order hit his mark.

Man we shoulda made this a pool with each person tossing in $5. Be a nice little pot for the winner. Maybe Ill try to get this going for next season if that sort of thing is permitted here.
