<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BallerAK47:</div><div class="quote_post">Hey Trail_Blazers, how can you be confused that AK is on the ALL DEFENSIVE TEAM?????

The guy is in the running for DPOY.</div>

When I am at school (in Utah) I watch all of the Jazz games. AK blocks people....but doesn't do much more. Besides, the NBA is about politics. How do you think that Kobe got all-defensive team? His jersey will sell, and giving him awards will increase his popularity and sales of his merchandise.

Nobody wants an AK-47 jersey, and he isn't that great defensively anyway.

He is 3rd in the NBA in steals and blocks per game and he's not that great at defense? He's always forcing people to change their shot or make a pass, he should be in the all defense team.

What does having his marketing ability have to do with this at all?

He is only 3rd in the NBA in blocks(2.20 a game) and 2nd in the NBA in steals(2.23 a game). Not to mention he gets 8.10 rebounds a game.

I mean with those stats, he isn't that good of a defensive player [IMG]

Here is a link to his stats page: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/andrei_kiril...x.html?nav=page

Are you serious? You can't be serious can you? Do watch the Jazz games or at least ESPN or ESPN2? If you did you'll know AK-47 is outstanding on defense. He could do everything defensivly. Rebound,Steal,Block whatever you want him to do he can do it. Not only can he do it he does do it. man you couldn't been serious when you said that.Oh and I think you need to check ballerAK47's sig because it is so true when directed to you.

Regardless of how good he is, there are people that are much better, regardless of stats.

Is there a stat for individual opponents shooting % or points scored?

Ok, so now stats don't matter. Thats fine. Regardless of stats, name me 5 people then that deserve to be on the All-Defensive Team this year over Andrei Kirilenko.

jyd2k4 list is very biased...Bosh wony win ROY, Oneil wont get COY if the Nuggets keep winning, and then he needs Sloan to stop coaching if he wants the award this year, and VC AS MVP?!?!?! That is a joke, KG is hands down the MVP and he will be, he was robbed this year, it will not happend 2 years in a row.

[IMG] You have to be freaking kidding me. This is just pure stupidity. Did you check the stats before you posted this garbage. How is being 2nd in steals, not doing much? The guy is a genius on defense, if you can't understand that I feel sorry for you.

As for no one wanting his jersey, HELLO!!! People are just now recognizing his talent. This is his breakout year. I gurantee his jersey sales will go up 10 fold after a while.
    I HAVE HIS JERSEY!!

    Please elaborate.

Everyone knew heading.....wait, let me rephrase that, everyone with SOME basketball knowledge knew that Darko was a pick down the line. Detroit needs frontcourt scoring to be legit contenders, as in having a shot at knocking off a WC team for the ring. Darko was chosen because hw ill fill that need in time. He is very young, the youngest player in the league. People calling him a bust, or saying he was a wasted pick, are way to early on that one.

Sure, Carmelo's is a good player. But so will Darko. And the logic is that you take a 20 ppg 7'0" over a 20 ppg SF if everything is equal. And yes, I am aware of the fact that Darko is nowhere near that currently.

TayShaun Prince's emergence last year made the pick easier for Dumars.

Like I said, knowledgeable fans knew last year during the draft, that Darko was raw, young, would need time to develop, and was a pick down the line. Carmelo having a better rookie year is of no surprise either.

No one said he didn't. He had Milicic and Kaman listed, and I was asking how he could contemplate between them, when Kaman has had by far the better season between them.

    He had "Milicic or Kaman."

Not "Milicic or Hayes." Or "Milicic, Hayes, or Kaman." But "Milicic or Kaman." Given the two choices, its easily Kaman.
