So when confronted with racist threats you feel the American Indians should give up their res, blacks should go back to the slums or Africa and Asians should all go back to Asia? As a first option. Remove yourself from the situation. If your family is threatened, you feel it's best to run and leave them them to fend for themselves. As a first option. Remove yourself from the situation. When England put a tax on our tea, you feel they should have just paid the fucking tax.
Here's the chronology. Cop receives text from son, texts him back. Man texts, cop gets enraged that man texts. Cop keeps demanding he stop, man tosses some popcorn his way, cop murders him. So he's a hypocrite about texting. He had just texted 5 minutes before he killed the man for texting.
Killing a guy for throwing popcorn and getting away with it. Sickening. Also futher ammo for the ACAB belief.
Wait, this happened during a movie called Lone Survivor? But seriously, The guy was texting his kids daycare. He had a good reason to be on his phone. He was texting not talking. I see people texting in the theatre all the time. It doesn't bother me. Sometimes when I'm at the the theatre with my wife, I text the babysitter to make sure my son is doing ok. Not a big deal. The cop that shot him was even texting himself. Could the guy have just got off when he asked? Sure. And it sounds like he did eventually. Maybe he was an asshole for not getting off immediately and probably so for reacting as he did to the cop snitching on him to the theatre and throwing popcorn. Did that warrant him getting killed? No. Did the cop have a concealed carry? Did the theatre even allow guns? Sounds like the cop got his ego hurt that the guy threw popcorn at him and exerted his macho alpha bullshit blowing the guy away. It sounds like he wasn't really scared. A witness heard him say, "throw popcorn at me," after he shot the guy, as if you to say, that will teach you. Doesn't sound like someone afraid. Pretty fucked up he got off. Not the first time the Florida stand your ground law has gotten a murderer off.
I had popcorn thrown at me when I cheered for the Blazers in other teams' arenas. Never occurred to me to shoot anyone. I just cheered louder.
This is the difference between a well adjusted, responsible person and a psychopath. First, we should be doing a better job of preventing these kinds of people from becoming (or remaining) police. I refuse to believe he has a clean background. And we should certainly prevent anybody with these kinds of issues from legally owning a gun by increasing access to, and reducing the stigma of, mental health care (among other things).
I had someone sneeze on the back of my neck at a theater once. I'm sure their sneeze just got away from them because we had no altercation before that incident, but it was gross. I had to wipe my neck off with a napkin. If I had a gun I might have considered using it in that moment.
From my experience (not anymore), the worst of the worst are campgrounds.....that is, mixed with alcohol.
Yeah, I much prefer dispersed camping whenever possible. It's so hard to get away from people within a few hours of Portland now though...
