I tend to think your right... leave him out of the rotation, he can play garbage time or maybe a 5 minute stretch. These 8 games may be more intense and difficult than a playoff series. We may need to go 6-2 to get in; instead of just 4-3 to win a series. Play every game like its game 7!
Hmm thats a good point because we both would be exactly .500. However Memphis would have at least 36 losses, so they would need to go 5-0 against their other opponents. The chance of all of that exactly happening for 21 games is probably 1 in 100,000 or such. If both NO and PDX go 7-1 or 6-2 or 5-3 etc... we would get the seed instead of them as our win percentage is a thousandth of a point better
I've read multiple things on here. Is there any official schedule (with dates) available. I've also heard that there will be a play-and-in for the 8th and 9th place teams. Can anyone confirm this officially? Or, is everything still just rumor?
There is no schedule out just yet. The play in between 8 and 9 will happen if 9 is within 4 games of 8. They will then go head to head. 9 wil need to win 2 games, 8 would only need to win 1 to advance to playoffs. So, if we stay at 9, within 4 games of 8, we play Memphis. If we lose game 1, we're out. If we win, we play them one more time. Winner gets 8th seed.
We know that the "seeding" games (8 games prior to the start of the playoffs) begin on July 31st. There was an announcement of the general dates for the start of each round of the playoffs released last week, but I couldn't find it with a quick search. The play-ins for the 8th & 9th seeds in each conference only happen if the 9th place team finished within 4 games of the 8th seed. The format is a two-game play-in where it's single elimination for the 8th seed and double elimination for the 9th seed.
This is the tentative playoff schedule per Shams Charania: Tentative NBA postseason dates: Aug. 16-17: Play-in tourney Aug. 18: First round Sept. 1: Second round Sept. 15: Conference Finals Sept. 30: Finals Game 1
WTF? ESPN completely forgot about the Kings. Cus % add up to 100% https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29284049/nba-playoff-predictions-no-8-seeds-title-favorites
I get your point. I just brought up kings because they have same record as the Pelican, so they should have a similar chance. Also like the Suns actually matter, hehe.
