What kind of answers did you expect him to give? Have you ever seen a GM give an interview and say, "Yeah, that guy sucks, we need to get rid of him. We've been on the phones with Bobcats, trying to acquire Gerald Wallace...."

This place IS drama. But when you look at it from the outside and see the Blazers have had 6 GMs in the past decade, that's a pretty startling fact. When potential up and coming GMs start getting interviews around the league, it would be likely that they'd rather pass on Portland for the chance to land a gig at a franchise where they will last more than 2 years. Getting fired so quickly is a resume killer.

There are only 30 GM jobs in the NBA so we will always get young up and coming GM's. I think other teams will know how good they are (or not) while they work for the Blazers. They won't hold it against them that they did not get along with Paul. On the job training is hard to get. So I wouldn't worry about the resume factor.

According to Jay Allen, Cho was viewed across the NBA as being indecisive. What Cho did on the job will be used to measure him, and how he interacted with other teams is basically his resume. In other words, I agree with what you posted, although I don't think being fired after 10 months by any owner is a plus in terms of one's resume.

LOL, of course not. But compare him to all the other GMs around the league and they at least explain actions, thoughts and try and inform the fans on the new direction the team is on.

Isn't the hallmark of a failing company the constant churn of executives being hired and fired before they can really make any sort of impact?

Nope. A failing company is identfied by falling revenues and an unsuccessful product. Neither of these are current Blazer traits.

Yeah I just don't get this. When we were vying for a title in the early 2000's, the team was losing big money. Now the team is actually doing much better. We are still making the playoffs and we still have some very young and promising talent. The Clippers is actually a very successful team in terms of fiscal earnings. They arguably have the worst record total in the last 30 years.

Failing companies, in order to combat failing revenues and an unsuccessful product, will hire and fire executives in quick succession until the company collapses.

So the hiring and firing are a symptom, not the cause.

PA & Co. deserve all this heat they're getting from the media.

So far the only explanation they've given is that Cho didn't mesh well with Paul. It's just very awkward and I don't buy it.

Less than a year after firing KP immediately after the draft, who really would want to work for the Vulcanites?

I count 4. Whitsitt, Nash, Pritchard, Cho. You're not trying to include Patterson for his month without Nash, are you?

He's Oriental = a quiet analyst. Allen should have expected this.

Well, if we're couting Cho and his 10 months, then we should also count Petterson and his 9+ months (5/30/06 - 3/01/07). And, if we count short term "acting" GMs, you add in Todd Leiweke (3/01/07 - 3/29/07) and Chad Buchanan (5/23/11 - present). So, that makes 7 (or 5 if you exclude Leweike and Buchanan).

Plus whomever they hire to build an empire after the guy they hire is fired before a year expires. What a quagmire! The situation is dire.

In less than five calendar years, the Blazers have had more people (six) with the title of GM, than in the first 33 years of the franchise (when they had 5 GMs - Glickman, Inman, Buckwalter, Petrie and Whitsitt).

That certainly smacks of desperation, disarray and lack of a clear direction from the top down. I have no idea what Paul Allen is trying to do. Apparently, neither does he.
