    Re: Rick Carlisle Fired!

To be honest with the whole if it was bitter or not firing, I think there was of course some bitterness. And the quote about it being a mutual decision is just PR, I don't think Carlisle is going to lash out to the media.

Thats so not true. Like the Pacers would come out there and say "well we dont get along with Carlisle, and it was a pretty bitter firing".

Find me, I assume you mean. Im not gonna go search the web for firings with those exact words, but I know that the front office always releases statements along those lines. "Both sides feel as if this move was neccassary to the development of the _______"

    Re: Rick Carlisle Fired!

Didn't read the whole thread, so excuse me if I'm saying something that has already been said.Anyway, I think he is an excellent coach, but there were just way too many problems and distractions he had to deal with in Indiana. I think the job he did was pretty amazing considering everything that went on during his tenure with the Pacers (the brawl, Artest trade demands, various Artest drama, Peja, JO, the big trade, etc.).However, if he does choose to keep coaching somewhere else, I don't think it will be next season. I think he took a year or so off after he was let go in Detroit before going to Indiana... I'd look for him to take another year off before coaching... if he even considers coaching again.

Carslile should get another team, weakly coached squads will swarm him for his coaching. He's a great coach however the Pacers need to blame someone for their catastrophe this year.Could never see him joining Washington, doesn't fit our style of play at all.

    Re: Rick Carlisle Fired!

Didn't the Pistons front office say that the Larry Brown situation was a mutual decision? Obviously Brown and Joe Glass went to the media and immediately said it wasn't..but I think they remember them saying that. Also the Miami Heat situation could be cited when Stan Van Gundy was said to want to just mysteriously move on...Yeah right. Why is there always so much love for Carlisle? He's an OK coach..but he isn't a great coach by any means.

    Re: Rick Carlisle Fired!

Yeah I think the Pacers just had to place the blame on somebody..Larry Bird even said himself "Usually the coach is the one who receives the blame for failure and that's just the nature of the business."

HOLY sh*t I would love to see Carlisle here... I'll leave it at that. He's a great coach and a HUGE upgrade over Doctor Rivers.

PFF, you're happy? Carlisle is a very good coach, one of the better coaches in the league right now. I'm okay with seeing him fired...I wouldn't want to coach Portland 2 either. It was the player's reason why they were bad, not the coach. I see him having some success wherever he goes.

    Re: Rick Carlisle Fired!

Ok guys, I'm calm now.Yes, I'm happy. Rick Carlilse is a good Xs and Os coach but he's huge in terms of playing favorites and does not get tough on his players during games. The Pacers need a new coach that will be fair to everyone and influence the players morally, not just when they are on the coach. Rick Carlilse needs to go to a team with good chemistry and leadership that just needs a coach. That would be his best situation. This was definetley a mutual decision. Rick Carlilse and Larry Bird are very good friends going back to their Celtics playing days. I'm sure Larry Bird gave Rick Calilse a very good posistion in the front office.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Combs @ Apr 25 2007, 02:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>The Pistons got there with essentially the same team after he left.</div>The Pistons got to the Eastern conference finals the year before under Carlisle, and the next year was wa little different of a team. Prince was a second year player by that time, and they got Rasheed Wallace towards the trade deadline the year Carlisle left. I think Carlisle did a good job in Detroit.Considering all of the injuries, and everything else that kept happening it was understandable that this team was a hard one to coach. I think Carlisle did the best job with what he had here. Like people said, there was the Palace brawl, Jermaine O'neal gets hurt every year, Tinsley gets hurt every year, Artest was problems on that team from day one, Stephen Jackson was a headache. This team was full of drama and problems from day one.I believe a prime spot for Carlisle to look into, would be the Charlotte Bobcats. He could do wonders for that team defense, and would not have even half of the problems that the Pacers have had.
