The whole league knows about Ledo. He won't be there for our 2nd round picks. Find someone less known.
He had the chance to prove he can actually play (beyond the HS level) and he pissed it away. If he was anywhere near as good as claimed and had one ounce of competitive fire, he would have proved himself on the court. He could have followed Rice's example and proved himself in the NBDL. There are 2 reasons for him to sit out the season: A) his ego/sense of entitlement is off the charts, or B) he knows he is not good enough and is running a scam. Either way - why would you want him?
Or C) because he committed to a college, got a year of free education, and then decided that this year is better for him to attempt to get drafted than next year? And at the time, he had planned on playing the entire season as a college athlete. C'mon dude. Also, Rice was KICKED OFF OF THE TEAM after playing 3 years in college. That is a completely different situation.
Huh? I thought the NCAA at first prohibited him from even practicing for a year, and then after negotiation allowed practice but not games. It wasn't his choice.
In that sense, it wasn't Rice's choice either. He got booted from his college team for rules violations, and went to the NBDL rather than sit out a year. Of course, they didn't have to get into trouble in the first place.
Did Ledo get into trouble? I thought he just didn't have the grades. Wasn't he ruled a partial qualifier?
He didn't have an option. He couldn't return to GT so he had to leave. Ledo could return to providence as he wasn't kicked off of the team due to his 4th or 5th suspension.
Mac (Portland, OR) Chad, what do you think the Blazers will do if both Caldwell-Pope and McCollum are no longer available? Please tell me they won't select Steven Adams, he's Meyers Leonard 2.0. Chad Ford (1:26 PM) I think you have the two guys -- McCollum and Caldwell-Pope right. Both players are high on their board. I agree with you on Adams, though I think Adams is tougher and the Blazers may just need the extra body. This is way out of left field, but I'm not totally discounting a sleeper pick like Antetokounmpo or Ricky Ledo here if McCollum and Caldwell-Pope are both gone
The more I read, the more I trust my judgements in players this class. Shabazz. Len. Ledo. Nogueira. Bullock. Only players with drafting (within reason - except Len, who I just think is worth trading for)
Ledo at 10? I like the guy as a sleeper but that is crazy talk. If you get another first round pick then sure.
Had he played where would Ledo have gone in this draft? He didn't play a single game and is still slotted to be a first-rounder.
Exactly what I've been harping on - and some people still seem to not understand the fact that he didn't play and he may legitimately go before the late 20s. Had he played, to the level I believe he is, he'd be top 5. Probably the top SG in the draft, maybe just behind Oladipo due to the character issues in HS. What do you think, Fez?
A couple of weeks ago he was projected in the 2nd round, so he was discussion for our picks. Now that mocks put him at the end of the 1st, he's out of our reach. He's no longer any secret, so I posted
Glen Rice Jr.? Yeah, thats why he was kicked off of the team. It was his 4th suspension. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/spor...ry/2012-03-13/ga-tech-glen-rice-jr/53510412/1 "Glen Rice Jr., son of the former NBA star, led Georgia Tech in scoring and rebounding this season but already was serving his third suspension at the time of the incident, in which a gun was allegedly fired accidentally."
The question I asked you previously was: would you be willing to trade both second rounders, to move into the first, for him? I want to gauge what OTHERS think of his ability based on the fact that he is exactly what we have asked for in a SG and based on the fact that despite him not playing all year, he still might be a 1st round pick, which is a testament to not only his workouts, but how good he really is. I know I'd personally draft him at 10, if I had to. Better than McLemore, Oladipo, Shabazz, IMO.
