theWanker was back when I was childless. Now that I've got two toddlers, I've got to worry that one day I'll look over their shoulder and find them posting on some bulletin board under the name, "MasterOfMyDomain", and I'll be shouting, "Where the HELL did you get the idea for that name?" And the younger one, who is a real heart-breaker, will whisper, "I got it from you, Dad, I got it from you."
My next stab. Added the red line--does that help on the other issue? It doesn't quite match the background band you've got, even though I took it right from the graphic. I think it's because I saved it at a different JPG quality?
Not sure. I think we have a PSD around somewhere to make the images from that has the right background. The powered by sportstwo needs to be left aligned or it will look "dangling" (dunno how to describe it better) on wide browsers.
I'm actually trying to take my design cues from the Blazers' own site. Not ripping it off, but giving it a similar feel. Please do come up with some of your own designs if you'd like--I certainly won't be offended.
I think you're on the right track. I just think that some more color might attract the eye to the banner. It's much smaller than what we're used to seeing. I'm definitely NOT a photoshop guy. I'm tempted to take a class though. It's a skill that's becoming ever more in demand.
One of the things I've noticed about the Blazers' graphic designers is they never use a red gradient or screen, mostly because it comes off as pink (kinda un-manly). Not meaning to pick apart your work--I like it. Just explaining why I avoided those.
That's cool. It probably would attract the eye more to the banner, but I'm not sure you necessarily want that. People are going to be posting in this board thousands of times. They probably don't want something too far out of this site's color palette, because it'll be too distracting. Kind of like banner ads. My own preference is to stick to the color scheme already established here (and by the Blazers).
I'll put up whichever banner that there's a consensus for. It can literally be on the site within a few seconds after one is chosen.
No, I understand what you're saying Mook. The only reason why I would suggest something that would attract the eye is because ripcitytwo.com will not be synonomous with this forum right off the bat. It would be a good way to get the word out.
BTW--that reminds me, somebody might want to buy up RipCity2.com and also point it here. That way you don't have to tell people to spell out "two". It will work either way. I'm $10 into this (and far more time than my wife would like) so I probably won't buy it. Just saying....
