<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NbaBaller:</div><div class="quote_post">crap well there goes option 2 for the nets. well good pickup by the rockets.</div> Yea but we're getting SAR according to ESPN. So I think we got option one which is what cwe were looking for.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JuLiO-R-:</div><div class="quote_post">Swift was probably the best PF available. Especially for 28Mil for 5 years. Swift could have earned alot more than that but he used his brain and decided to join a team with a bright future.</div> Naa, I'd take the more experienced and better all around player in Shareef Abdur Raheem. The Rockets didn't get him, but he's the better bet. I think Swift was the second or third best available because Donyell is very good. I'd put him ahead of Marshall. Still, it's a very good move by the Rockets and they adressed a big need.

The Nets should have gone after Swift IMO because they still have a huge problem defensively and they need a PF who can finish off of J-Kidd passes.
In the wordz of Lil John "Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah". We need some athletism at the PF, and we got it. Didn't think the Rockets would pull it off, but they did. Proud day in Houston, Texas.

Adding shareef or marshall won't help the squad's regeneration.
YES! This is great news especially he was one of our main targets. And to sign him on the MLE is even better. Hopefully his athletism will bring something to our game. Can't wait to see him put the jersey on.
I like the interest that T-Mac has taken in Swift, he seems really commited to working with him and helping him get better.
I can't believe some of you are actually critisizing this when a month ago we were in **** creek about the PF position. Swift is excellent and i told you all CD would pull off another steal i mean we now have brought the average age of out team down thanks to our 2 new young ones in Head and Swift and they have a great cast of experienced veterans as well as the star core in T-Mac and Yao. And even better we can pull off another blockbuster now. This is exciting news and well only get better from here mark my words.
why does everybody doubt swift?! i think this is the best move possible. teams used to double up on yao and our un-athletic pf couldn't clean the glass...now if they double up, swift WILL get the boards. i don't think it matters if swift WAS a good rebounder becuz now he WILL be free to do so. And imagine the practice yao can get by being posterized by swift in practice and not the game! And now we can do a S&T for a guard!
Sorry for not putting a link. Swift was really the best PF out there for us. SAD has the same game as howard, it would be stupid to get him. Swift is one of those guys i think can turn around is game on a worthy team. We might even make him a starter. I think that is actually the intention.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hungi1115:</div><div class="quote_post">i dun think this is a good siging... he is thin and cant bang down low. he'll get kill on defense.</div> i really dont think so. he is listed at 6'-9" and 230 lb. that is not skinny considering big ben is 6-9 240. i think that his role in memphis was the problem. He played center more often that PF. AND rebounding will be a cinch with Yao drawing all the attention. Are yao and swift considered twin towers now?!
great sign i think him and shareef where the best free agent pf. and i would rather swift cause he is younger but shareef has shown he can play @ a allstar level......................Congrats though
Rockets fans better hope Swift doesn't slack off like he usually does. To say he has a bad work ethic would probably be an understatement.

He can hold his own on defense, and he's already a known presence on weakside defense (aka: blocks galore). Also, the fact that Swift is willing to sacrifice what, $10mil? to sign with the rockets instead of the Nets is a good sign that he's trying to commit himself to winning now. I really hope that his laziness rep will be erased, just how Tmac's did when he arrived in Houston.
Good deal by the Rockets. I think Swift was supposed to sign with the Nets considering the lucrative offer(10 M more than the Rockets can offer) they had for him last week but when the Nets suddenly chose Shareef over him, he immediately decided to join the Rockets. I'm sure he won't regret his decision to join Rockets, a team with a bright future. We'll have a dynamic frontcourt for years to come.
