Release Graham, sign Lucas, Davis just saw this on the news. Other thread below but this has actual information. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Rockets signed guard John Lucas III and forward Josh Davis on Thursday, and waived swingman Stephen Graham. Lucas is the son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas, who was the first pick of the 1976 draft by the Rockets. The league granted the Rockets a 16th player on their roster because of injuries. Lucas III averaged 15.1 points in 14 games for Tulsa of the NBDL after being cut by the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this season. His father played 14 years for six teams before coaching at San Antonio, Philadelphia and Cleveland. The 6-foot-8 Davis saw limited action in four games for the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this season. He averaged 2.8 points and 7.8 minutes in 42 games with the Philadelphia 76ers last season. Davis was the MVP of the CBA in 2003, when he averaged 18.7 points and 9.6 rebounds. Graham signed with the Rockets on Dec. 10 and averaged 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds in six games.</div>

I don't like it. Sign and releave players so fast. Did Van Gandy really think carefully before signing a player? It hurts a team and players' confidence when the coach changes their rosters so fast. At least give Graham more chance to show what he can do. Rockets can not be worse anyways.
We needed a forward, so they sign Graham, nice kid, really, but he could not play as SF, the signing of Davis was obviously the right thing to do. I still think that the problem is JVG

I kind of do hope that the Raptors do sign Stephen Graham, because then the twins can help each other develop into good players.

Graham looked good for a rookie but didn't really bring us anything that no other player on the Rockets could. With Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift both struggling to make mid range Js as of late, Josh Davis is a much brighter signing. John Lucas III had a great career at Oklahoma State and had he been 4 inches taller, he could very well have been picked in the first round. Head's handle hasn't been great for a point guard and having Lucas helps too. We had three threads on this same subject. Look around before making a new thread!
Josh Davis does not bring anything that stephen graham doesn't bring. Sure Josh davis is an inch and 15 pounds heavier but no way is josh davis going to bring anything stephen graham already brings. Josh Davis Mid Ranged Shot Long ranged shat Streak shooter husle not much of a rebounder huscle player Comparison Ryan Bowen he seems to have learned to shoot this year Stephen Graham Mid Ranged Long ranged shot also streaky hustles better rebounder than davis much more athletic and is younger. But a littler smaller why the hell didd we cut stephen graham for josh davis i mean why. But i guess i am not the coaching staff so dunno the inside info but from the outside it looks so bad. but i love the game of john lucas though he would have been a top pg prospect had he been 6'3" 6'2"
i don't think signing any players are going to make us a better team... carrol dawson has to make some trades like last year.... maybe something so crazy.. like the david wesley for jim jackson trade....

Bowen is here because of his defense, and Davis is here because of his ability shoot. Why did Scott Padgett do so well with the Rockets last year? He was a big man who could shoot the basketball. Josh Davis is similar, and Stephen Graham is by no means going to do the same things as Davis. You won't see Graham playing the four spot, and that is what the Rockets need right now; shooting at the four. Howard is doing alright on the season but against the Hornets he seemed to have lost it. Stromile Swift hit a few from midrange against NOK, but before that he was very inconsistent. If Davis can do what Padgett did, ie. spread the floor with shot, hustle, he'd already be doing more than what Graham does at the three/two spot. Also, we signed Davis with the vacant roster spot generated by the league injury exception; Graham was cut to make way for Lucas.
yah but still the davis signing was still pretty bad. HE WON'T GET ANY PLAYING TIME BECAUSE OF SWIFT HOWARD BAXTER MUTUMBO they will take all the minutes in the Center and Power Forward. I much prefer graham compared to davis. and we could have signed lucas with the injry slot and just not mess with davis Locke. He doesn't bring anything new to this team he ain't even posting pretty stats in CBA

Oh, and I just love how we're down to just one backup powerforward who is also CBA worthy but no one is ragging on him now are they?
Funny How CD is signing players where he should go get players that will legitamately (spelling grrr) play and crack the rotation. I want Gerald Green. Hopefully Boston feels Ryan Gomes and Paul Pierce is enough for the future. They need to play him. The point is I like the Lucas signing because he is very compatible to JVG system because hes scrappy, fast, and a very good ball distributor. CD's life relates to the Sum 41 song "In too Deep" Here's for a miracle or Yao's recovery because we all know if we make the playoffs, any team will be scared to face us.

Didn't I just say in my previous post that with Howard and Swift not hitting the outside shot consistently, it's hurting the team? Mutombo already takes up the lane and he isn't getting out; with Howard/Swift forced to station inside because they can't hit from outside, how can TMac or anyone else get to the basket? Read my post before you say the same thing again.
I like both signings...Lucas is quick and can score, and also is very confident in his abilities, which is always a plus as a rookie...Davis is long, can shoot and rebound well, and is a very smart player...I see him as a more quicker Scott Padgett...
