At this point, I'd think anything more than a dump to get under the tax would be gravy. I don't wanna watch this lazy bum play 30 mpg anymore. Nas is better than him and Nance needs more play as is.
bulls seem like a possible destination for covington. hometown guy, they need a forward. team looking to make a playoff push. we can't re-acquire Jones, so we need a third team. maybe they'd be willing to give our pick back. We'd also duck the tax. Maybe send some cash Orlando's way for the trouble.
Roco is the most likely to get traded. Don’t think they will pay him, they have multiple other options at his position. Question is do they attach a first, package him with a guy like CJ, or just use him to dip the tax.
If we duck the tax this year, our full MLE will open up in the summer, so it's not totally vital to bring back someone with multiple years left (even if it would be easier). Roco for Kyle Anderson straight up is another idea. Anderson is a FA this summer, but I'd like his bird rights. Terrence Ross is another. He's got two yrs left on a very reasonable deal, but Roco is a hard sell for a rebuilding team.
We could get 2 first round picks for him right? That's a fair trade, right? There was a GM in the league who would give up 2 firsts for RoCo
“Robert is an elite defender and consummate professional that will make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor,” said Olshey. “His versatility enables him to play multiple positions and his character and professionalism will allow him to transition seamlessly into our culture.”
I don't think that's true. I think any GM can see that he's not into this system or maybe this coach but his effort is down. He's shooting just 1% lower than his career averages overall and from three, he's getting a block and a steal per game, he's not getting the shots that he has in the past and he's letting his man get by him far too often along with everyone else on this team. I think a team that wants a win now player on an expiring deal that they have bird rights to, would love to give it a go and see if he's worth bringing back. RoCo is a lot more than just what he's shown this season, he hasn't fallen off he's just not completely present which is weird for him but our team is going through a lot of shit. So for a guy to be checked out wouldn't zero out his value.
Roco was good last year, undeniably one of our better defenders. he's just fallen off a cliff this year and looks a step slower. this thread wasn't created as yet another Olshey bashing one. Take that elsewhere. I'm trying to figure out what we do with him.
RoCo and a 2nd for Kyle Anderson was something that I immediately went to. Anderson makes 9.9. RoCo makes 12.9. It gets us under the tax and Anderson is actually a useful player.
