It a good deal for the Blazers trade away 2 players that wasn't in the Blazers future and if you want a 2nd rounder you always can buy one.

Does he become the starting 3?

The picks aren't valuable? That's 2 players the Blazers could have developed Into untouchables.

Nothing major. Just Olshey trying to insure that the Blazers don't blow the first round. And thus losing him his job. But like people are saying, the bare minimum.

Yeah, although we’d have to match salaries so someone like Meyers or Moe would have to go.

But this second unit would be dope

    Curry
    Hood
    Layman or Moe
    Mirotic
    Collins

Yeah. Because picks like Nicola Jokic happen every year. We picked up Baldwin for nothing and flipped him as a major piece in this trade. Second round draft picks are currency as much as actual ways to acquire talent. And we are up to our ears in young players.

I don't think Olshey is done yet I believe he will attempt to make another deal. I think either Layman or Harkless is in play for a trade.

    Agreed.

This is a good trade. A solid single which could be stretched into a double depending upon how the playoffs unfold. Good job Neil.

I just wish we would've been able to keep Wade & send out Swainagan instead....

I'm cool with this trade. Gonna miss having Nik mainly because I loved the options the "Sauce" nickname provided.

So now that we have an extra roster spot, which direction do you think we go? 2 way player or another vet on a minimum contract? Are we still over the cap?

Someone who might contribute....for two players that were not contributing. Seems like a good deal.

Portland doesn't have a 2nd round pick until Anfernee Simons has grandchildren but that's not a huge deal.

I'll be pissed if we trade Layman. He could only get better.

Here is a little (pre-draft) on his defense: "Hood's biggest weakness as a NBA prospect likely revolves around his defense, as he shows questionable intensity on this end of the floor, rarely getting into an actual stance and frequently being knocked off balance and taken advantage of off the dribble due to his lack of strength. His relatively short arms don't do him any favors here, as he measured just a 6-8 wingspan on a few occasions, which is accurately reflected in his inability to generate steals (.9 per-40), blocks (.3) or rebounds (4.9), all of which rank among the worst rates in the draft at his position. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Rodney-Hood-5723/ ©DraftExpress
Hood has decent lateral quickness, so he could end up becoming at least adequate in this area, but he'll have to improve his motor and hustle quite a bit and also get stronger and tougher, as he allows himself to get pushed around without resistance more than you'd hope. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Rodney-Hood-5723/ ©DraftExpress

And yet, we manage to get someone in the second round every year. Through cash or other reasons.

Probably not but he fits a lot better with Dame and CJ than Curry so expect to see him with those two a lot.
