In order to be heard by the Supreme Court, a law that restricts access to abortion first has to be passed by a state legislature and signed into law by a governor. I think Maris’s point is that men and women vote those elected officials into office. Just to be clear here, since I have posted now a couple of times in this thread, I don’t support the anti-abortion laws that have been passed by these southern states. As a Christian, I have ethical concerns about abortion (particularly late term abortion), but I also recognize that we don’t live in a theocracy. I think Roe vs Wade’s right to privacy underpinning is an extremely poor basis for restriction of state’s rights. I think it’s likely that this Court will overturn it, at least in part, but I hope they don’t. It’s been the law of the land for too long and making a drastic change now will lead to a reduced view of the Court’s legitimacy and will likely tip off court packing processes that will damage it even further.
Trump us a raging antiSemite. He repeatedly tells Jewish Americans that Israel, not US, is our country, Netanyahu our prime minister. He called the large majority of Jewish Americans who vote Democratic disloyal to our country, meaning Israel. To him, America is white and Christian. The rest of us are others. Jewish Americans are part of Israel, not US. Obama couldn't really be American. He demanded four Congresswomen, three of whom were born here, be "sent back" to where they came from. Defended Muslim ban by saying immigrants who are Muslim can't assimilate even after several generations. There is a reason Jews overwhelmingly opposed him.
It's my guess that American Jews are not necessarily high on Trump.....nor his evangelical supporters. I would also guess the majority of American Jews are not Republican. I still believe he's well thought of in Israel. At any rate, I've moved past Trump. I truly hope he decides not to run in 2024.
The Big L says both. You, my dear, are what's known as the total package. Did I just say that out loud?
Did that dude just type that Trump supported the troops and veterans? As one, this makes me sick to my stomach. What the fuck?
Because the graft-ridden, third world healthcare VA failed to do them. Most disgraceful agency outside the intelligence agencies.
I've been using the VA hospital for 52 years now and my brother was also a 100% disabled Veteran during his service as a U.S. Marine. Back when I got out disabled in 1969 the VA hospital was terribly disgraceful but now after pretty steady imporvement it is probably the best health care in the world. I've used every department there except transplant some like imaging, hematology, dialysis, pharmacy, blood clot disorder clinic and optical hundreds of times and surgery probably 15 or 20 times not to mention cardiology and cancer treatment and others such as treatment for PTSD, so the difference between us on this subject is that I know what I'm talking about.
They took good care of my dad when he was alive. They were doing studies to create treatments for veterans one time and I went up there and took part in a few of them. Gave blood and tested some medicine to support the troops.
No. Effectively, he duped me, as well as many, many others. While I voted for the man....twice (generally, considering the alternatives at the time), I haven't defended him since just past the 2020 election.
Yeah, I'm wondering when people will realize that you no longer believe in Trump. ABM NO LONGER BELIEVES IN TRUMP. Shout it from the rooftop.
