It's certainly a blow, but its not like he's decided to forget about the Raps. The longest I can see him playing in Spain is for a year. Ukic can use that extra year to bulk up and develop the weaker aspects of his game and get ready for NBA competition. Babcock said it himself that Ukic will be playing about 30 mpg on Tau as opposed to 10-15 mpg on the Raps. The result is that we'll end up with a Roko that is a more of a finished product. He'll have less potential, but will be more NBA ready.

There shouldn't be a penalty against this sort of action. More money will always take precedence. Why do you think a lot of players in Europe come to the NBA anyway? You could look at it the other way and say that every time an NBA team drafts a foreign player, they're doing the same thing to those European clubs. That said, Ukic showed enough enthusiasm about going to the NBA earlier to not turn his back on the Raps.

I hear this... and my heart sinks. Down, into my stomach.

What kind of person is this, and what type of lies are we being served?! Can someone please tell us Raps fans. We were supposed to have picked 4 players who were happy to play in Toronto and eager to join the squad. A lie.

Now our "steal" of the 2nd round is gone, and we have a PG situation. Although we signed Calderon, I wanted to see Ukic play and see what he could do. I had high hopes, as did Raptors fans. So Ukic, good riddance. You will be now forgotten, we have to move on as fans and as an organization. Think positive (the few ones we have) and stay optimistic fans... our break is going to come some time or other...

You're sources are wrong thankfully....Canada has to be the best if not top 3 best countries in the world for girls. Especially in SW Ontario and Southern Quebec. Even Maxim goes on and on and on about Canadian women. the University of South Western Ontario was voted 2nd hottest girls in North America and most likely for a male to get lucky during his first semester. Trust me....Canada girls are of the highest quality.

i love canadian girls and they love me but i need me a "senorita". although, u do make a persuasive argument citing maxim and all. and btw, i don't think the circle of hotness reaches beyond the major cities where u kinda have the united nations of hotness. do u really think there any hot chicks in small towns in alberta?

You don't usually bulk up in Europe....

Anyways, maybe we didn't do our homework as well as we thought we did, and others knew their would be problems with the buyout of Ukic, which was why he dropped. Either way, it sucks, but let's just hope for the best....

    Roko talking about Tau

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Drobnjak is the second new arrival at Tau, which lost in the final of both the Spanish ACB and the Euroleague last season. The team also signed Croatian international point guard Roko Leni Ukic of KK Split.

Ukic was a second-round pick of Toronto in the June draft but is expected to remain in Europe at least one more season.

"My aim after playing for Split is to play for another one or two years in Europe and then move to the NBA," Ukic said. "I didn't doubt for an instant when I knew Tau were interested in me. You don't have to go to the NBA at whatever price and it will be good for me to play in Spain."</div>

Thought you guys might be interested in this little part about Roko.

Good mindset on Ukic's part. We'll have the money to sign him when he becomes a premier PG in a year or two.

We still have his rights too though right? Like when his contract is up in Europe we can sign him and he'll play for our team, am I correct? I really hope it pans out like that, cause it will be sick!

Yes, the Raptors have his rights whenever he comes to the NBA.
