That's not correct, even if you assume no racism. How about "He was telling his audience that they (and the Florida electorate in general) should not try fucking with a local economy that was doing well by electing his opponent."

Saying his opponent should not try to fuck with the economy is equivalent to admitting that his opponent is going to win, which I'm sure was not what he was trying to say.

No act here, and it surely has. But it doesn't mean the word is official the pejorative you think it is. Nor is it a pejorative depending on the person speaking as @Further said. Monkey something up is just like throwing a Monkey wrench in the works to all honest men, black or white. The dishonest can be counted on for another view similar those throwing the Monkey wrench in the works.

    More bullshit?

Jesus I'm so tired of you trying to rewrite history and act like shit doesn't exist.

It's well known racists have called us monkey.

Please don't respond to this. I'm tired of going back and forth with you over this. Your stance is utter bullshit.

Your semantics are a bit more accurate than mine but mean the same in general. My point is that the supposed racism is nothing more than a red herring. And anyone who truly believes this guy was using it as a “dog whistle” needs to clean the shit out of their ears. This whole “issue” is nothing more than politics as usual......

Yes I know. I never said they did not.
I am saying the use of the word Monkey does not always ID a racist, nor is necessarily intended you piss you off, although you may proceed to be if you wish.

No one said it was always racist. Literally no one.

So it makes no sense to say sometimes it's not racist.

In this forum, I don't think I've seen anyone say it is. Why argue that it isn't with people who never said it was?

Did you read any of my posts in this thread?

I've never asserted that it was racist. Now, your personal attacks on my reading comprehension, are really getting on my nerves. Stop. Because you OBVIOUSLY didn't read my post...

    >>>The trend below is to label it racist instead of an honest inference logical people take.

It's also well documented all kinds of people of all races were called monkies, often as a compliment.

My mother often referred to my brother and I as little monkeys and it was certainly not meant as an insult.

In baseball it has always been the ultimate compliment, referring to a highly-agile, highly-intelligent hustling player who seems to always be in the right place at the right time, always pushing the envelope, sacrificing his body without a second thought.

This term was used long before the game included multiple ethnicities, as I have previously pointed out in previous threads.

I myself am highly praised as being "a real tough monkey" by Detroit Tigers legend Jo-Jo White in the book "ROGER MARIS HOME RUN HERO" by Leonard Shecter, Bartholomew house, Inc. 1961. Page 45.

Bottom line, you shouldn't use the word monkey when describing black people.

I wouldn’t go that far. See, that’s the problem with dog whistles.

Let’s put aside the question for the moment of if this incident was a dog whistle and assume it was. The use of the term is very beneficial to the candidate on the right because :
    1) actual racist people read between the lines and support him, and
    2) many non racist people hear this man being attacked for using what they consider innocent language and they feel the attackers are being unfair and they throw their support to the GOP candidate.

The only people who see this as a dog whistle AND are bothered by it wouldn’t vote for that candidate in the first place.

Sucks, but there is a reason why these Dow whistles have become so prevalent in recent years. If you are on the right you gain support from both racists and non-racists who are conservative or libertarian.

Good show further. I was going to bring this up but got lazy, too much to type.
Now all we need to do is identify who invents the dog whistles, one by one. Perhaps invent is not the right word, I suppose convert may well be the case. It works to the liberal advantage until the conservatives and libertarian learn the game.

Of course, these are not only brought forth for politics. I think business interest often are the orgin. I long suspecte Cosell fell to that interest. Probably Jimmy the Greek also.

There's no doubt in my mind about DeSantis' dog whistle. What a guttural thing to do.

Just because it doesn't affect the vote count doesn't make it right.
