    All of the voters on ESPN seem to only care about LeBron's "hype" and how well he dealt with it. Aldridge, Stein and Butcher all have said in their articles that LeBron deserves it more just because he had more hype and expectations and performed well. Melo is not getting the ESPN vote just because he didn't have as much hype as LeBron, eventhough Melo probably had the better year. In my opinion that is outrageous, just because he had more hype and he put up equal numbers he gets more credit? Don't think so.

    I just hope the media don't play favourites here, It's no secret the media love to talk about Lebron and what he does every night. He is a very exciting player that pulls off amazing moves every night. No matter who the Cavs are playing the shows on ESPN will show him, thats the way it has been all season.
    </div>

    Thats exaclty what I have been saying in the Cavs forum. It seems like Espn is trying to impact who will win ROY. They have been playing favorites all season. And its nothing wrong with that because Lebron can make them alot of money & bring in alot of viewers. But people shouldnt look at their veiw of ROY as credible because it seems like they are pretty biased.

    I think they should have co-ROYs. Both had amazing years. You cannot blame LeBron for Jeff McInnis getting hurt. If he was healthy, and they made the playoffs, LeBron would be ROY. I think that Carmelo had more around him with Nene, Camby, Andre Miller, Voshon Lenard and there bench.

    I think Carmelo had an overall better year, but I think they should have co-rookies because Melo had a year of college to develop his game even more against higher talents while Lebron was in high school playing against lower talents.

    That really has nothing to do with the ROY honors. It's all about how you performed this year, and just because you're more experienced or less experienced shouldn't take effect in something like this.

    Exactly.

    If you look at only their performance, which the award should be based on, you can see two things: the #'s and how they impacted their team.

    Now there's no question that both seriously impacted their respective teams. The Cavs and Nuggets both finished last in their conference last year with identical 17-65 records. Both had some new players added to the mix along with their star rookies, both had some players from last year improve. That being said, I'm going to say flat out that their supporting casts were equal. The Nuggs getting off to a terrific start might not have been all Melo, but if he wasn't there none of it would have been possible.

    Now the Nuggets are 43-39 and the Cavs are 35-47, 8 games difference between them. The players' stats are almost identical, but Melo played in an unquestionably harder conference and perhaps the toughest division in the league. If the Nuggz had been in the East, they'd be the 4th seed, with homecourt advantage. As it is, they still made the playoffs, whereas Lebron didn't.

    Is it Lebron's fault that his team didn't make the playoffs? No, but it wasn't Yao's fault last year, and though his numbers were nearly identical to Amare Stoudemire's, and he had much more hype to deal with, he still came in second in the voting.

    That being said, I feel it would be a travesty for Carmelo to not cop at least part of the Rookie of the Year award. I think its a shame that the media is allowed to vote on such an award, when it should be GM's or coaches who vote on it. If that were the case, I think we'd have a clear cut winner, and he'd be in the post season playing when he recieves his award.

    What about Dwayne Wade? East 4th seed Home court advantage.

    Wade is going against some tough competion this season, and he will simply be overlooked by Melo & James.

    He's has had a great season, but he's also had his fair share of injuries. That fact alone could eliminate him from consideration.

    The Nuggets would currently be in 4th place in the eastern conference as well. They have played against tougher teams, and still manage to win ballgames.

    Very true, Even then, Melo is only 7 months older, yea he had more experince but why should that count against him.
