As someone who HATED our signing of Payton, I was exceedingly happy with what we got for Payton. Not only because we got out from under his contract but because it turned out better than not signing him at all. I'm not sure what big we could have signed for the same contract, of course, but hopefully we go that direction this offseason as we look at FAs rather than adding another guard/veteran/injury-prone fringe NBA player.
The best part about that trade was that Joe was willing to admit his mistake and rectify it. The last guy would have never ever done that.
And lets be honest, some of the other moves were so bad, nobody would be able to get off them and get 2nd round picks in return. I 100% agree that being able to pivot immediatelly once you realize a mistake, is a refreshing quality.
To be fair though, the guys that Neil was in love with seem like genuinely really good dudes and GP2weeks seems like a giant tool.
If they had him top 15 on their board I question both Joe & Mike's assessment. If he turns out to be as good as a top 15 down the road thats a different deal. He's a legit second round pick......
NBA draft room had him top 15 NBA draft.net had him at 22 Tankathon had him at 27 ESPN had him at 17 Seems like Joe and Mike….along with most every scouting report and mock draft had him in the first round
3 terrific young men. great responses. scoot's fire is infectious. hope he stays healthy. he's going to contribute to wins this year.
also... scoot looks taller than Chauncey who was a legit 6'3. and love him holding his jersey with the front showing until being told to hold up his name side.
I loved Scoot's statement when the three new players were asked how they expect to impact the team in their rookie year: "I think I can put pressure on the defense in all kinds of ways. Coming as a voice, trying to lead by example, and gain the trust of my teammates. Then on the defensive side of the ball, just grow. Just grow in that aspect and become one of the premier defenders in the league."
The Murray Twins - Keegan and Kris Discuss Their Journey to the NBA - YouTube This interview with the Murray twins and their father was a good watch! Highly recommended to get some insight into who Kris is. I pasted the link in the Kris Murray thread as well. It was taken the day before the draft.
our draft was an unequivocal hit. i'm even warming to murray, but scoot what who i always wanted, and rupert could be a steal. only issue is the pending Ant trade has to absolutely be a homerun if we want to keep Dame and I don't have faith in Cronin to do that.
I agree but I doubt it will be a homerun....we might have to overpay. Not Scoot or SS overpay, but still, enough where some fans will be upset.
