Yes, I'm aware of that. That was, in fact, mentioned in the post to which I responded. However, I believe Doncic to have the characteristics and ability necessary to finish even higher than 4th someday, possibly even 1st.

Personally, I'd take brown grass over the multi-hued sewage we are currently standing in.

Luka could very well be "better" than Dame. Time will work that one out. Luka is 6'7 and 218lbs ish and can play 3 positions. He's a freak of nature, gifted athlete and has an extremely high bbiq at 19 years old. It's a tough one on one comparison but Luka has some serious advantages. I doubt we could lose enough to get ay of the top SF's or PF's that would help us quickly. The draft still seems to be this teams best bet for talent and that is always a crap shoot.

As far as the Mavs roster goes. They could be a more desirable location than Ptown to free agents. Especially with up and coming young guards who love to pass the ball. Who wants to come here and watch our guards shoot?

    Let's follow this process.

Tank now --> fire coach --> fire GM --> trade away stars --> hope to luck into other stars --> reduction in casual fan support/attendance/revenue --> justify a bullshit reason to move from Portland.

With a stable ownership, this market can sustain a total rebuild even if I'd be staunchly against it. I'm wary of one now. I don't want there to be any reason (however justifiable) for Jody to sell the team to a group that would move the team. That noise would be unbearable.

This team needs a change, if it comes from within or not, I have no idea, but they are clearly doing the same thing and it continues not to work.

I would seriously want to see some experimentation at least - give the rookies some rope, maybe change some roles - I have no problem giving Layman the green light to bomb like a boss - it might work, it might not, but it needs to be tested. Let Simons fail on the job a little - to see if you can accelerate his development. Move CJ to run the 2nd unit again. Something needs to be tried.

Pretty sure Ropp meant actual nuclear meltdown, not referencing a rebuild

Seems like you are putting the cart before the horse though. Tanking didn't get them a championship. So to say they have one in the last 7 and we don't has no relevance on their tanking or if we do or not and the outcome it might bring.

Thing is, it was very impressive 2 seasons ago, a little worrisome last, and a hell of a mixed bag this year. At this time though, a full tear down looks more like packaging the team up to sell, rather than taking the shortcut through hell. (Also, the NBA isn't Baseball or Football, and changing a teams trajectory is a chancy proposition at best)

This post is tongue-and-cheek with a hint (or more) of truth:

What's sad is that I'M one of your best unbiased Blazers "media" source. You got Quick behind a paywall, BlazersEdge (specifically Dave) and Ropp and his show holding a personal grudge against Olshey and base content around it... Blazers Outsiders, what would be a solid podcast, is being miscast as a pre-game/post-game show and using a camera for their "bar" set that's worse than my cellphone. Rip City Project who has good content but doesn't get enough traction.

We have Rip City Radio and True Blazer Fan. But I don't count the morning edition of Rip City Radio because of that "ding" bell sound effect they constantly play make it impossible to listen to for me.

So Chad Doing/Travis Demers and me. It's not even me being cocky, it's how sad I think the state of media surrounding the Blazers is. And Chad knows his stuff but I don't think he knows the CBA like me, or knows the intricacies of the game like I do. I definitely know he doesn't have the same amount of NBA player / prospect knowledge I do.

True Blazer Fan is the rebellion, or something. I dunno. Just wish it could become more mainstream as a legitimate alternative. We're trying to get there. Give me a couple years, guys.

And to the people that I'm told pay attention to my posts or whatever, remember the first line... Or don't. Whichever works.

I kind of like the morning rip city radio stuff. Probably more there personalities than the content though.

Yeah I like them too, I just can't stand that goddamn bell. It's too loud and seems like a low-quality audio effect. It's almost scratchy.

But even though I disagree with Chad Doing on a few different things, I ride with that dude no matter what. His son goes to the HS I went to. He doesnt hold back but knows enough so that it's not him simply throwing crap away a wall. He's the best mainstream guy we got.

My sister dated him some 20 years ago. He was a good dude for the most part.

I appreciate what Chad does on the radio and what he has done off the air for various charity causes. Big 'Thumbs Up' from me. :twothumbs:

And if that was "for the most part" when he was that young, that's more than most people.
