That or management could have built a roster that would survive him missing games. It built a roster to survive Noah missing games, you know.

Great idea. Wish they'd've thought of that. I guess it's true that often the best ideas are the most simple.

It's not like Rose played 82 (or many, actually) games the past few seasons. To bank on him being 100% healthy is just crazy.

Agree 100%, though if he really wants to be relatively pain free at his kid's graduation or in all those meetings he was talking about earlier this season, he really ought to consider calling it quits.

We will move on transplant with the idea that this team is Derricks. We need to build with the idea it is not.

And stop cashing those paychecks too. Like, right away.

I don't feel any anger towards Rose for cashing them checks. These injuries are out of his control. On the subject of Nate being the guy, I think he is. Knows what Thibs expects from him and the core guys know him well.

Noone should be angry at Rose for his knee getting hurt over and over. I have not heard anything other than he's been a diligent rehab patient.

Things that rub people the wrong way regarding Rose:
Not playing when medically cleared and getting paid huge $$$ while doing so / taking up valuable Cap Space.
Being overly concerned about feeling fresh in the future at children s birthday parties and "business meetings" while cashing huge checks to play basketball and win NBA Championships ( or at least give all you have to do so).

So, to Transplant's point, if Rose is really concerned about business meetings and is going to easy-goes-it his way through the end of this contract, then retire, well, the honorable thing to do would be to not cash the checks anymore. At some point, you are being paid to bust your ass on the BB court. He of course is under no obligation to do so once the contract is signed really. He could Erob it.

The assumption when caring about Derrick Rose anymore is that he really, really wants to come back and dominate the NBA again, and will pay the price to do so. Many have a sneaking suspicion that his concern at this point is to ride out this contract, finish earning generational wealth and then enjoy the rest of his life. More power to him, but as a Bulls fan, that kind of sucks, given that he takes up so much Cap Space.

Agree. I guess you can feel some general anger at "the Fates," but that doesn't get you anywhere.

Rose's current contract may be the worst in the history of Chicago sports, but it was a no-brainer when it was signed. Shit does indeed happen.

The Bulls pay Jimmy, DRose, and Brooks $23M. I'd call that a bargain.

Expert: Removal Of Damaged Meniscus ‘Likely’ For Derrick Rose

“My guess is that very likely this will require removing part of his meniscus,” Bowen said. “That’s called a partial meniscectomy.

“Most of the time the meniscus isn’t in the condition that it can be repaired a second time.

“The meniscus is a pretty finicky structure. It has a very poor blood supply, and there are only certain tears that are amenable to repair. It has to be a tear that’s completely within the blood supply area, which is what allows the healing to occur.

“You always like to leave the option open to repair, but statistically, repairs are quite infrequent compared to the necessity of removing part of the meniscus.”

And, as we know, it matters little what members in the organization think, it matters what "team rose" thinks.

It will be interesting to see if the organization announces what the time frame to recovery is.

It's not very consistent with Rose's rehabilitation strategy for him to come back this season.
