I think the biggest adjustment we need to make is Batum has to play better on Parsons out of the gate. Parsons always has a big first half. Batum has got to take that personally.

I thought the officiating was pretty fair until the last two minutes. Blazers have to be better than to allow a couple of late game calls against them decide the game. I would love to see DHo crying after game 6. Go Blazers! Close this series out tomorrow!

    My observations:

    The officiating was fine.

    Howard was terrific on offense.

Howard was terrific on defense. He stopped LMA in the post late in the game, and that really hurt.

Howard on LMA made room for Asik to play at C against RoLo. 15 boards, 6 on the offensive glass.

That Lin guy sure can play.

Batum was on fire. Wes was on fire in Q3, but was cold in the end.

    Why we lost:

    Rebounds: They won 48-34
    Assists: They won 23-14

Perceptions of the refs aside: The Blazers, overall, did not play well enough to win.

Inexperience? This was the first "closeout" game most of these players have ever been in. (And the two who have, stunk up the joint.) Houston was fighting for their lives. Our guys have never played against a team fighting for their lives.

Now, the Blazers better wake up and realize they are also fighting for their lives. If they don't win on Friday, I don't know if I could even bear to watch a game seven.

    We need LaMonster back.

Officiating was okay. I say okay, because there were two very obvious blown calls on us against them, but then they gifted us a foul closely afterwards.
We just didnt make shots and that is why it reflected poorly in our assists.

Rebounding we just suck at when you have Howard and Asik in. I noticed no Joel Freeland last night..........

Dame and Wes continued playing great ball last night, Nic was solid and Lopez had a big game, due in part to the constant double-teams the Rockets threw at LA. I'm not particularly concerned by LA's off night; I think he and Stotts will figure out ways to open up some operating room for him next game. Even with LA not scoring, he defended well and the Blazers probably could have walked away with the win and the series if Williams and Wright hadn't been so abysmal. I doubt that happens again next game, so I still like the Blazers' chances to close out in Game 6. They'll need to play with more urgency than they showed at times last night, but since nobody in Rip City wants to play a game 7 in Houston, my bet is that they bring the effort big time Friday.

Lets just hope Aldridge understands this and takes this bad game as a personal challenge. I am hoping for Aldridge to come out with a vengeance tomorrow. We need him to.
