Kobe missed the last two FTs, but aside from that I was ****ing SHOCKED, at how clutch he was tonight. Jesus Christ he had 14 in the fourth, after only 2 in the third. Congrats Laker fans!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>DENVER (AP)—No surrender on this night. No matter, the Los Angeles Lakers dispatched the tempestuous Denver Nuggets anyway. Kobe Bryant scored 14 of his 31 points over the final 5 1/2 minutes Monday night, leading the Lakers to a 107-101 victory over the Nuggets and a sweep of their first-round series. Pau Gasol added 21 points in the Lakers’ first sweep of a playoff series since whitewashing New Jersey in the 2002 NBA finals, the last time they won it all. The Nuggets became the first 50-win team to ever be swept in the first round of the playoffs. The Lakers will meet the winner of the Utah-Houston series, which the Jazz lead 3-1, in the Western Conference semifinals. The Nuggets won 50 games this season for the first time in two decades, and they did it in the power-packed Western Conference. But they were no match for the top-seeded Lakers, who are 25-5 with Gasol in the lineup. Bryant took over in the waning minutes, scoring nine straight points in every way—a turnaround jumper, a 3-pointer, a driving layup and a 15-foot floater—to give the Lakers a 97-96 lead.</div> http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap;_ylt=Aif...?gid=2008042807

Glad to see us finally get that monkey off the back and advance past round one. Unfortunately, I only saw the first half of this game (midnight launch of GTAIV caused me to miss the 2nd half), but with the way the Nugs were playing, I was shocked to see us only win by six. Their defense was terrible in the first half, I've never seen a team give up so many easy layups and dunks. As it is, I'm pumped for the 2nd round. Hopefully that Houston/Utah series drags on so we can be well rested and get a tired team.
The reason it was so close was because of the first half of the Third Quarter. We went incredibly cold, scoring 2 points in about six minutes and Kobe was 1-6. It was then his subsequent 5/7, 14 point fourth quarter that sealed the deal for us.
Great to see Lakers sweeping Nuggets. I hope the series between Houston and Utah goes to 7-game, that would give us some advantage.
The Utah/Houston series doesnt matter to me. 5 games or 7 games. Im sure this Laker team is ready to play. Bottomline is that they are getting additional rest while the next team just has to come out and play.
