We still have to go out there focused, we got careless in game 2 and let Landry go off against us with Yao struggling. I want to see us keep the intensity and hunger.

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIDF...p?showtopic=60263&hl=&feature=player_embedded

    Right in the eye.

I love how Ron takes everything so personally. I love it when he gets pissed off, he thinks he's Kobe. He thinks if he's angry he can magically turn up his game. I love it when he decides to be a superstar and "takes over" the game at the end. All it results into is him shooting his team out of the game, which is good for us.

I love the boos from Houston fans as well. Especially with a team like them, a team obviously inferior to the Lakers, you'd think the least you want to do, as supporters of your team, is to pump up Kobe and give him more reason to shut his critics up.

I also loved how Kobe started attacking the basket today after settling for jumpers early on. Do this more Kobe, please.

Oh and props to Hogface, he really came through tonight. Drew was great as well, more playing time please.

Drew has been defending Yao really well in these past two games. Much better than Gasol. I really think Drew is a better matchup than Odom for this team. Scola is too big for Odom. Gasol would be a perfect match for Scola.

Drew looked confident the moment he stepped on the court tonight. Continue that confidence young man and you'll get your PT back.

Have to say I'm disappointed in the Rockets with their weak performance tonight. Kobe just owned tonight, must give it up to him.

But forreal though, Mamba - you're a loser dude. I'm not even a regular here and I'm not at home every single day doing play by plays like you. I went to watch the game at a friends and chilled there, you should do that once in a while. I'm on here when I'm bored, didn't have anything to do with the fact Rockets lost ... I was posting during game 2 ... wasn't I?

You guys beat us fair and square in a good game. I was pissed because I only got to watch like 5 minutes of the 4th quarter, cuz I got off work so late. But it seems as if you guys beat us from the start. I'll give you guys props for beating us. No excuses. That Artest EJECTION over that hard foul was complete bullshit. JVG said it best, "He landed harder than actually pushed." I mean atleast a Flagrant 1. A flagrant 2? Are you serious? It wasn't even intentional. It's all good though. No way Rockets drop Game 4 though. Must win.

keep telling yourself that. even though the rockets didn't play a good game at all, it took the lakers being on fire from 3 tonight to put them away(and another bullshit ejection to completely seal the deal, though the lakers were almost definitely going to win anyway).

bynum playing more is the best thing that could happen for the rockets. it's much easier for the perimeter guys to get the ball to yao with bynum on his back than with gasol fronting.

I thought Kobe missed a bunch of easy ones and hit the hard ones. Same goes for us being hot on the perimeter, which btw was just a regression to the mean with us being 8/35 in the first two games from three; Pau wasn't feeling it. Due to this I really liked our overall performance, I don't consider us getting hot actually.

Re: Round 2: Lakers vs. Rockets Series Thread (Lakers lead 2-1)

    Kobe, Kobe, Kobe!

Last night our bench finally delivered for us in a big way with the exception of the Machine. Everyone stepped up and played their role perfectly with the exception of Sasha.

Sasha's only job is to make open shots and be a pest on defense. He committed a moronic foul on Von Wafer. All Sasha had to do was step to the side of Wafer because Von was clearly trying to jump into him to draw a foul. If Sasha wasn't there to hit him, Wafer probably falls on his backside by himself.
On offense Sasha couldn't make crap. I was watching some videos of his shooting style last season versus this year and he's altered his delivery. Last year he had more touch and rotation on the ball, but this year he's trying to shoot laser shots at the basket. Those laser shots look great when they go down, but if you don't have your legs lined up perfectly at the release your shot is going to fly off the back of the rim everytime. Sasha needs to go back to shooting with a higher arc.

Another bonehead play was Sasha running backwards asking for a pass and then tripping over himself. Anyone else see that?

Andrew Bynum was fantastic last night in limited time. He did exactly what we needed out of him and worked his ass off to defend Yao in the post. If you watch the hustle and work he did prior to the pass it was textbook. He absorbed Yao's initial bump, then worked to gain front position to prevent a pass to come in, when Yao tried to go across the lane to the weakside, Bynum hustled and got in front of Yao again. You could see the frustration on Yao trying to shake Drew off him. On offense Bynum fought for an offensive rebound off a Kobe miss and hit a nice 3 footer. He caught some passes and finished strong in traffic. Last night has to be a confidence boost for him. I think he watched how Yao was getting after it when his teammates weren't giving him the ball and was getting his points on the offensive glass. When Bynum came in he played with that type of intensity Yao was showing. Good job Drew!

Luke Walton also had a solid outing. Luke was deflecting a lot of passes and did a nice job at swiping the ball out of Yao's hands before Yao could get a shot off. Luke had the tough task of guarding Artest and Landry, and did an admirable job on both of them. He also scored 5 big points off the drive and kick by Kobe.

The Lakers took control early in this game and after that buzzer beater by Kobe to end the 3rd you could see the air deflate out of Houston's team.

Artest's foul out the end was not flagrant. Complete overreaction by the officials.

I hate to see Yao go limping off the court. It's more exciting with him in the game and I want to beat the Rockets team when they're at full strength. That bruise on his right knee is nasty, and now his left ankle is jacked. He's had a tough time chasing Gasol around and you can bet on the Lakers going right at Yao if he's not 100% tomorrow. Interesting lineup at the end by Adleman going extremely small to try and get back in the game. He has to be frustrated by his backcourt play. I knew Artest would have an off night at some point. He was playing way above his capability in the first two games. Last night the numbers evened out some with all the bricks he through up behind the perimeter. Adleman's backcourt guys didn't follow his directions after timeouts to get the ball in the post. Instead it was dribble dribble dribble, shoot. Even Battier tried getting the message across to the guards to feed the ball inside. They weren't hearing him either.

Great game by the Lakers. I hope they play with the same devotion tomorrow and aren't satisfied with getting homecourt advantage again. We need to break them tomorrow and close them out in Game 5.

55% from 3 is hot for any team. especially when ariza, odom, and walton made more than half the 3s and combined to shoot 67% from behind the arc.

If Yao doesn't play tomorrow, then I see the chances of Rockets winning very slim.

In game 2, the Rockets were better off without Yao.

Yao isn't going to be 100% tomorrow, Gasol is going to exploit that.

Re: Round 2: Lakers vs. Rockets Series Thread (Lakers lead 2-1)

Odom can hit threes when left open. Ask any Laker fan and they'll tell you that this year, his three point shooting has gotten better. 2-2 on wide open threes are not his fault. Tell the Rockets to play some defense.

    Ariza?

3 pointers against the Jazz in the playoffs:

    April 19 - 3 for 4

    April 21 - 3 for 3

    April 23 - 2 for 4

So I guess he's been hot all postseason then? I guess those two back to back threes he hit against the Warriors a while ago to win the game was a fluke as well right? Keep telling yourself that, or you can realize that maybe he's just improved his shot. Anybody who watches Laker games will tell you a difference between his shooting this year, and his shooting the past.

And Luke? You're really gonna complain about him shooting 1-2 from beyond the arc? Wow, that's a travesty, I'm sure he's never done that before.

Game shouldn't have even been close. Even the announcers acknowledged, during the 3rd or 4th quarter that the Laker's lead should be bigger than 10 had they made their routine baskets. Rockets got lucky with a win in Game 1, but honestly that should've never happened. If the Rockets loss was unlucky since they caught the Lakers on a good day, then the Rockets win was an absolute fluke because nobody even showed up to play Game 1. You really think the energy Lakers came out with even compared to that of Game 2 or 3?

Drew just looked confident from the moment he stepped onto the floor. I think he is a better matchup against the Rockets than Lamar because he is a better defender. He seems to be frustrating Yao very well.

I'd like to see him get more minutes if Lamar continues to struggle. Lamar's saving grace last night was his offense.

I was wondering why Bynum didn't play more. He did great. I hope that boosts his confidence. I actually thought Farmar did a good job last night as our starter. I hope he can keep it up the rest of the playoffs.
