How come we can't play like that every night?

They are capable of it, they are the most talented team imo, but they get lazy and don't try because sometimes they can win while being lazy.

Even without Bynum, I think the Lakers had more talent than the Celts last year, its just that the Celts brought more effort on both ends of the court, especially Kobe being lacksidasical.

I wouldn't say Bynum is back. He scored mainly on Chuck Hayes, a guy who is like 6'6''. If he can do that consistently throughout the rest of the playoffs, then I'd give him some credit.

I just noticed no one picked this series to go 7 games in the poll.

He scored 14 points in 19 minutes, but I agree he's still "not back." Right before he was injured he broke out with a 42 point / 17 rebound performance. Last night was his best performance in the playoffs and hopefully he can build off it.

The close out game is always the toughest and I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers have to fly back to LA to end this series in 7.

That is because LA will win in 6. I don't see it going past 6.

They've exploited the matchup of Gasol and Bynum on Hayes. Before they even had a chance to establish that in game 4, they were down 20+. I think from the start, Bynum and Gasol get the touches. I see game 6 going just like game 5.

Bynum needs more PT if he is going to play like that. I thought the 4th quarter last night was perfect for Big Drew to get 8-12 minutes of extra PT and establish himself. I think Phil mismanaged that. He could have definitely used that PT to continue to build his confidence.

I agree. Perfect opportunity for Drew to get more reps in without any pressure. All I can think of is the coaching staff wanted him to end his night on a high note? Also god forbid he got injured in garbage time.

Once Chuck Hayes picked up his 2nd foul and Brian Cook came off the bench it was lights out for Houston.

unless yao plays in game 6 with some sort of crazy brace that lets him play at 100% without it causing a problem with his foot, this series isn't going back to la.

Do you think it has to do with Bynum's new sleeve that he's wearing? I thought it might be bothering him less.

Yeah, I think that could be it, too. He looked more mobile last night. I think he wore it in game 4 as well, but he didn't get much PT in that game.

It's actually not a new brace. He had to put an NFL sleeve over the same clumsy brace because the Houston players were complaining his brace was knicking their legs and giving them cuts on it. They mentioned it during the broadcast.

I think the main difference was playing at home. It's been night and day for our youngs guys when we're at Staples versus being on the road. They really need that home town crowd to feed off of.

I'm also sure he was pumped at the opportunity to start again and didn't want to blow it.

I did hear that part, I just didn't know the brace was the same underneath. He had a decent game 1 too, he just needed a bit more time. It is nice to see him develop into a role player again, Odom needed it last time.

Yeah we'll need both Bynum & Odom giving us consistent production against Denver. The entire series Denver attacked the Mavs and got a lot of baskets around the rim. Bynum has to be a beast defending the paint and Odom needs to vaccuum up the rebounds to limit second chance opportunities.

I think Denver is going to be a lot easier than Houston.

Denver has had a cake walk to the WCF. They aren't as good as they look. We'll shred that defensive. High scoring matchups usually favor us.

No, it is a new brace. They said that he had a new brace and Houston was complaining about it, so the NBA made him put a sleeve over the new brace.

I'm just going on what TNT reported. HK and I both heard it. Maybe they were wrong?
