I am confident. Houston got throttled here in LA.

    The place should be rocking.

    Come on, Lakers!

I'm all for it. He would bring out the defensive tenacity this team is capable of.

lol I didn't watch the game, because I expected the Lakers to blow Houston out, just Kobe to have learned to be agressive with no shotblockers, Bynum being effective in limited minutes even if he just gets garbage points. As well that Gasol has 3 inches on whoever defends him. Even Odom is taller than their tallest guys.

It turns out I should have watched it.

Fully expect Lakers to win Game 7. Beat Denver, and advance to the Finals. If that doesn't happen, expect changes.

Really? Interesting, from my vantage point Odom was really good. He made so many effort plays defensively and on the boards. I think the Lakers are at their very best when Odom is at his best. He's their X-factor.

I agree he is the x factor but in that 1st half he got eaten alive by Scola and in the 4th, Landry made him his bitch. I know his back isn't all good, but if he is going to get eaten alive like that, sit him. We actually made our run in the 3rd by going into Gasol, running the offense through him, and Bynum anchoring the D.

I was at the game. What a game, everyone was going nuts when we had that HUUUGE lead to open out the game. And the clutch shots AB hit with around 3 minutes ish to go to extend lead over 10 ... some great moments definitely for Rockets fans this game.

Phil has been doing this shit all year, he is finally being exposed.

If we don't win it all this year, he needs to go. His heart isn't in coaching anymore. He wants a front office job and as long as he is fucking Jeanie, he'll get it.

Laker fans are seriously down on Phil Jackson? The reason why there are so high expectations on this Laker squad to begin with it is because of the coaching he's done. Know one is better at melding the talents of players, managing the egos, and constructing a winning team.

I can never figure it out when Laker fans are calling out Phil Jackson and Spurs fans are calling out Greg Popovitch to be fird. That's world class coaching right there.

Phil sure is a mistery. I don't think anyone can fully understand his reasoning.

Re: Round 2: Lakers vs. Rockets Series Thread (Lakers lead 3-2)

Sure you can. Boston does it, Cleveland does it, Denver does it. We just don't have the defensive mindset to guard the paint. I'm not talking about leveling the guy where you get ejected, but take a hard foul and make the guy lift himself off the court. Remember when Tony Parker used to burn us in the playoffs? The Lakers created a wall with Horry, Shaq and Fox. When Parker came into the lane one of those three knocked him on his ass. After getting hit a couple of times Parker started settling for jumpers and the Spurs were done.

I still think our bad habits are a result of playing on the road and having a young team. Our bench players have consistently struggled on the road all season.

Last night our supporting cast couldn't hit shots.

    Fisher 1-7
    Sasha 1-3
    Brown 0-3
    Walton 0-5

Combined 2 out of 18, that's just not getting it done. It has nothing to do with coaching these guys just aren't making shots created for them in the Triangle offense.

I think Sasha is shooting only 28% in this series and is a joke on defense.

The sad part was we had the Rockets frontline in foul trouble the entire game and couldn't take advantage.

Re: Round 2: Lakers vs. Rockets Series Thread (Series tied 3-3)

-He doesn't take timeouts. This isn't the Bulls dynasty he had, or the early Lakers' championship teams. This team needs timeouts. They aren't mentally strong enough as a group to withstand and handle runs and climb back in the game. The lack of timeouts has also led to numerous big leads being blown.

-He doesn't change his rotations. Why the hell Fisher still playing? Still starting? Why is Sasha getting PT?

Phil is stubborn. He is going to win his way, or lose his way. He makes no adjustments.

Hypothetical question. The Rockets up 15 at the end of 3. Lakers come back and win by 10. How do you Laker fans react, besides being happy you won?

Re: Round 2: Lakers vs. Rockets Series Thread (Series tied 3-3)

PJax has made a lot of adjustments and rotation changes. He is unorthodox at times and frustrating, but ultimately the players on this team are the ones not carrying out the game plan. Maybe this group isn't the right personality to thrive under him? PJax isn't a rah rah firey coach and might come off as aloof at times. Maybe he's out of touch with the younger generation?

When you hear PJax breakdown a game it's clear he knows exactly what he's doing. The players on the otherhand, I'm not so sure most of them 'get it.'

Someone on the radio brought up an interesting question. Would it be better for the Lakers to lose this series and make some real changes? Or is better for them to get to the Finals and lose again and not make any changes?
