You have to do something good on "ESPN" in order to get mentioned on ESPN. This was by far our biggest nationally televised win of the season! - - RIP CITY - -
Biggest national win yes for the team.. but individually for Roy, the Houston game and Phx game were bigger IMO.
Deron Williams is soo annoying! Probably cuz I hate the Jazz..and I no way Deron got snubbed from the ASG..
To be fair, we were being chewed up and spit out by San Antonio at the time. ...maybe if that conversation had come in the 4th when parker was a brick machine and Roy couldn't miss, the answer would have been different. But at the time, Parker was totally outplaying Roy.
What about our win over Houston? Or when Roy scored 52 against the Suns? Also- we beat the Spurs on TV for our first win of the year.
Paul should make the 1st team. Dude has had as good a year individually as anyone in the league and certainly better then Kobe. If it's about team success in the voters eyes, the Hornets have a much better record then Wade's Heat. Parker has had an outstanding year as well. I could see him making the 2nd team maybe bumping Roy. Regardless, making any All NBA team is a tremendous achievement STOMP
My bold prediction is that Roy won't even make the All-NBA 3rd team. This will not be because he doesn't deserve it, but because of where he plays. It took rest of the world a long time to recognize that Clyde was a top tier player and he was famous from college. I think for guards it will be the following: 1st Team: Wade, Bryant 2nd Team: Paul, Williams 3rd Team: Parker, Rondo Of course the above is total bullshit, but Portland fans tend to forget just how little the rest of the nation gives one shit about what happens here. Portland players will not get any respect until they make a ton of noise in the playoffs. Until then expect them to overlooked.
i would personally put paul and wade on the first team and kobe would drop to the second team. but i don't expect that to happen.
I don't necessarily disagree that Portland doesn't get the attention it deserves...but then why do you make that argument when Deron Williams is on your list of 2nd team guards? Salt Lake City gets respect but we don't? I don't think that's true.
Clyde played in the land of no internet and no widespread cable TV. Things are different. Nobdy gives a shit about Portland, no, but Roy is a star in the league.
ESPN and TNT both had the same take on Roy: "The best player you've never seen play". Isn't it the coaches that select the All-NBA teams? If so, I think there's enough respect for Brandon that he'll end up in the appropriate slot.
Utah has made noise in the playoffs the last 3 years while Portland didn't. That game D-Will more exposure then any Portland has with the East Coast media. When Portland was going to the WFC their players got more national attention. That is what it will take for this group of players to receive any real accolades. Also, Utah is in the Mountain Time Zone, so their home games start 1 hour earlier then Portland games, making it more likely for people on the East Coast to have seen them play. Portland fights two battles. One, they are a very small market team. Two, they are in the Pacific Time Zone, which means less viewers east of the Rockies. It sucks, but there is nothing to be done about it.
I thought it was a media award. That is what I based by guesses on. If it is voted on by coaches then that list would look very different.
Both Deron Williams and Tony Parker missed significant portions of the season with injuries. Roy has played all but a handful of games and the Blazers have as good or better record. Roy was voted an all star by the coaches. Their teams play against him. Bryant and Wade have first team sewed up. I see 2nd team as Chris Paul & Brandon Roy. 3rd team as Harris (they won't want just one Eastern Conference guy) and Chauncey Billups - at least, that would be my vote.
I think the guards will be Kobe Wade Paul Parker Williams and one of Harris, Roy, Allen, Johnson, Billups, Rondo
