I don't see how Roy could be anything but 2nd team.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
    I'd select:

    First Team: Paul and Wade
    Second Team: Kobe and Roy
    Third Team: Parker and Williams

    I expect it to be:

    First Team: Wade and Kobe
    Second Team: Paul and Williams
    Third Team: Parker and Roy

Honestly, I dont like the Blazers, but I love Brandon Roy. This dude deserves atleast 2nd team for the way he has carried this team.

I don't understand why Deron Williams gets so much hype.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
He is really good. But I think he's always been connected with Paul, as though they're equivalent stars taken together in the draft, when Deron is nowhere near as good as Paul. For a while, Carmelo was a bit overrated because people treated him as an equivalent talent to LeBron. That's worn off, finally.

I think Williams is a somewhat equivalent talent to Roy, but Roy is simply having a significantly better year, IMO, and Williams has missed a lot more time. So Roy deserves second team this season.

But that's what I'm talking about... When you hear the media talk about Deron Williams, you'd think he was the two-time All-Star with the team tied for third place. He is good, but what has he accomplished?

Let's be fair - he was the best player on a team that went to the WCF in his 2nd year... Granted - they were lucky that Dallas did not match with GSW at all that year - so they managed to get out of the 2nd round - but still.

Deron is a great player. I do think, however, that Roy will separate himself from Deron as time goes on. He just seems to have a killer instinct to control the pace of the game that Deron is not always able to exhibit. Not sure if it is because of Utah's very precise system or because he has another big star on his team in Boozer - so he does not carry the same weight around the organization - but Roy seems to have something where he can more often take a game over and will the outcome to his liking.

I do think that Roy deserves 2nd team All-NBA over Deron this year - but Deron is a great player.

Roy is better than Wade. No chance you'd trade Roy for Wade.

Here's what I think the teams should be, based on position.

    PG-Paul
    SG- Bryant
    C- Howard
    PF- Nowitski
    SF- James

    2nd Team

    PG- Parker
    SG- Roy
    C- Ming
    PF- Duncan
    SF- Danny Granger

You must not follow the NBA that closely, then, Nate'...

And most other non-Blazers fans. Which was one of the points I was making in the other thread.

Was he being mentioned as a second-team All-NBA selection? No. Parker and DWilliams were, though.

Why is that? Are the guys on the broadcast ignorant? Maybe. Are they atypical in that they don't recognize what Blazers fans and, according to some Blazers fans, so many others already see? Perhaps.

    I doubt it, however.

As for whether Roy makes second team all-NBA... I hope he does. He certainly would be a good choice. I will stand by the same reasoning I used in the other thread, though: the odds of him beating out every other guard except for Wade/Kobe/Paul just aren't good. Parker might get props. Johnson might. DWilliams.

    We'll see.

I wouldn't make the trade, but only because there is no way in hell Wade would stay in Portland. He wants to be a Global Icon and that won't happen in a Blazer Uni.

That won't happen regardless of which uniform he is wearing.

back over at bbb (where i'm sure we can agree there aren't many blazer fans anymore) they had a thread regarding the top 5 players in the league other than lebron, wade, kobe, paul, and dwight. 10 people actually posted lists of their next best 5 players(not including me and bengalduck since we both post here and obviously like the blazers). 8 of those 10 posters chose roy among their top 10 players. not exactly a large sample size or anything, but it is something.

While it could be easily argued that Wade has been a global icon for a few years now, thats LeBrons stated goal. Not that I really care, but I've never heard that marketing stuff from Wade

I saw it in a story done on him by ESPN in 2006. He wanted the same level of recognition as LeBron. I would say he is close now, but in order to get there he needs to stay on the East Coast or go to LA. Portland would not be an option.

Roy is clearly better than Wade or the anal-rapist, and should be on the first team.

Why would it be homerish to assume that Wade would split town as soon as he could and therefore would be a bad trade option? I didn't say anything about ability. I believe Wade is better then Roy right now, but not by a huge margin. I have no idea what the future holds for either player. However, I am pretty sure Roy likes being in Portland and I am very sure Wade would hate it. Better a happy Roy then a pissed Wade.

    Um, no.

You could make an argument that Roy has played very close to as well or equal to Kobe. Wade has been a notch above both this year, IMO... He has carried that Heat team. "Clearly better" play by Roy is either seen through Blazer-colored glasses, or by a fan who hasn't seen any Heat or Laker games. Wade trails only Lebron in PER, which is the second best ratingever in the modern era (after Jordan).

Roy is great, but he is not quite there.
