injuries have no sensitivity, they just don't care. I've seen players better then Brandon have their abilities snatched away in their prime. It was sad then too and it will be sad when it happens to the next great young talent. But thats part of the deal both when you play and follow sports.

Lashing out at fans who don't chose to live in a fantasy world where A. any team would trade for Brandon or B. thinking hard work can overcome a lack of cartilage in his knees is just silly.

Re: Have you heard the audio of Roy's concerns?

He changed the entire "philosophy" in Portland. Instead of players ignoring and flipping off fans, we have a player that welcomed all fans. There was a great story and Sly was witness to this.

I live in L.A. and I bought floor tickets to the Blazers vs. Lakers in Portland. I purchased a ticket for Sly, so he could sit with us. Anyways, during the shoot around I had my son Christian with me. He is a very shy kid and didn't know how to ask for autographs. Anyways, Roy found out about Chris and called him out to center court where he was stretching. He talked to Chris for a few minutes telling him what he needs to do to be successful in basketball. He then asked Chris if he wanted him to sign the Jersey of Roy's Allstar uniform. Chris is now a huge Blazer fan; which used to be a Laker fan. Kobe didn't call him over, Sheed would never have done this. Zach was too busy tossing money at tits. Miles was busy getting fat and Bonzi was busy flipping off and spitting on fans.

So I have a deep love for him for what he did for this franchise. So many other players could have stepped up like Roy but didn't. That's what separated him from the other players. Oh by the way, Aldridge was right next to us and had the trainer make us move.

The moral to the story is Roy wants to help this club, even though he may not be able to. Instead of getting fat like Miles, or just getting the fat check and lay on his ass; he wants to earn his pay. That says a lot about him as a player and professional. Really what does he have to gain being on the floor. I think many don't understand, he really doesn't have to play and he will still get his. He doesn't want to be labeled as one that doesn't care because he truly does care.

Re: Have you heard the audio of Roy's concerns?

We get it, it's personal for you. But be that as it may Brandon hasn't been conducting himself like a good teammate for some time now. The fact that his physical abilities have diminished magnifies what was once "forgivable" and instead becomes fuel for fan angst. It's only normal for fans of the team to react the way they are.

You think the fans that don't have this 'hope' for Roy have something personal against him?

Miller was praised by many of those who now are bashing Roy.

Re: Have you heard the audio of Roy's concerns?

Absolutely. He didn't play the card right on this situation, but I am completely sensitive to his situation. In his mind, he loves Portland and the fans. He made a constant effort to prove to us fans that NBA players actually care about them. Then when times get tough, the fans he loved turned their back on him as quickly as they cheered him during his clutch performances. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and can think of Roy as some evil selfish player. I would take the heart of Roy over the heart of any other Blazer on this team. It's unfortunate that his body isn't as strong as his heart.

Miller made no effort to fit in last year at the start of the season. He did a lot of pouting.

    Something I'll never forget.

I think Brandon enjoyed the attention more than he "loved" us fans. Like or not this is his business ... PR and gladhanding are part of that business.

I remember Miller complaining in the media about sitting behind BLANKY. That was long before the blow-up with Nate. There were threads about it on this board.

Well yeah, who wouldn't, except for maybe Miller? But many other Blazer stars didn't make this effort. In fact, many ignored fans, and Aldridge was one I saw first hand.

By the sounds of the conversation between Quick and Roy, did Roy know this was being recorded? Why did he take his voice down when he said Rudy and Patty? Quick was baiting him hard too...

Quick: "I just don't get it, just three minutes."

Brandon:"I don't even know what I could have did (Chuckles)"

    Quick "I know!"

On the radio, there was a suggestion to give Brandon a standing ovation for support when he enters game 3 at the RG. This would be a good gesture for us fans, IMO.

Re: Have you heard the audio of Roy's concerns?

You seem like a good guy mags, but you should take some deep breaths and read what some of the voices of reason are saying in this thread.

As far as no fans of yesteryear....that's just way off base. I've posted with MANY of the folks here today 15+ years. I've been as big a homer as you are since 1975. Fans that post in forums for 15 years bleed red and black. There is no arguing that. I proudly believe that I am part of the best fan base in the league.

I feel for Brandon big time. It has to cut to the quick that his knees have betrayed him. I'm a huge fan and I'd love to see him come back to his former ability. But, short of divine intervention, he will not grow two new menisci. I've come to terms with that the old Brandon is gone. I'm still hoping that new Brandon can help the team. When he's not helping the team, he needs to sit down and suck it up for the good of the team.

Brandon was out of line in going to the press over his PT during the playoffs. I don't know why you would even try to defend that. If other stars do that, so WHAT? That doesn't make it right. If he's given it his all during his time with PDX, that doesn't mean that being a distraction during the playoffs is ok.

Here's hoping that there is no damage done to the team by this. Who knows what Nic, Rudy and Patty think about this.

    Go Blazers

Was listening to 1080 on the way home earlier and a fan said he was going to boo Roy whenever he touched the ball tomorrow.

    Some "fan"

Re: Have you heard the audio of Roy's concerns?

Roy may or may be a nice guy (it's definitely a nice story) and I wish him no ill will. We're discussing him as a player, and part of the job description for athletes is to take criticisms of their play professionally. There's nothing insensitive about Blazers fans saying he isn't valuable to the team right now, nor that he should try not to let his personal frustrations distract others at an important moment for the team.

Yeah, some people are jerks. There's not a whole lot more to draw from that.

Wow almost similar to what is happening now.

I guess that all said I was dead wrong about Miller publicly complaining about playing time needs to eat some crow. :D
