Roy shouldn't start but I would not be adverse to seeing him come in early in the first quarter, especially if Matthews is not playing well. It'd be good to get him in with the other starters. I think that Dallas is going to be all over Roy, especially if he can knock down a few shots. He could be immensely useful for scoring & opening up other players early in the game. I think it's extremely important we get off to a good start and pull out all the stops to get that done in the first quarter. We need to have the lead by the end of the first quarter and the Dallas defense should be scrambling all over the place to cut off multiple attack angles from Roy, LaMarcus or Wallace.

To clarify again, I wrote this thread thinking that the miraculous Portland comeback would come up short. It was a 10 point game with 3 minutes left, and things weren't looking good ater Terry hit that 3.

So, it was with a 3-1 deficit in mind that I said Roy should start Game 5. Since it is 2-2, leaving Matthews in is fine, but if the offense is again terrible, Roy needs to go in the game with Miller. The defense has been fine with Roy the past two games, so any edge Wesley gives on defense hasn't been seen on the court.

No. 3-1, then yes. 2-2, then no.

i dont think it matters as much if lma can get the offense going without him, if we can score 20 (gasp!) points in the first/third quarter without him, it bodes well for us the rest of the game when he is playing.

I completely agree. LMA needs to be force-fed the ball early tonight. If it doesn't work, then Brandon may have to play 30+ minutes.

I do not think Roy earned the right to choose whatever he wants - but I think he was 100% right about being miffed at playing only 7 minutes in game 2 - He does need the minutes to get into a groove - because if he can do it - he is still one of the hardest people to stop in basketball - but his long-term prognosis and his medical history probably suggests that having him playing 35 minutes every night might not be in his or the team's best interest.

Precisely. Which is why I'm perfectly content to watch him play the Manu role on this team for as long as he's capable.
