But shouldn't the analysis be to play (and start) the player who will help the team in the following years. You kind have thrown this year away, you point to Rudy missing valuable starting experience, to Westbrook being given the chance to play and develop. All signs point to starting Bayless. Not that I'm saying this is wrong. I still have hope this year that Blazers can make it to the playoffs and get a first round win. Based on that, I would start Miller. But if this is a throw away year (or developmental year), I think I would be starting Bayless or looking to trade Miller (because Miller won't be happy if he is pulled from the starting line up again).
I honestly think we can get a couple more good years out of Miller, which should give Bayless plenty of time to show whether he is a legitimate contender to the throne, or just a scoring combo guard.
