What a joke. Rudy isn't hurting the league - he is hurting the Blazers. Rudy is 25K poorer, Stern is 25K richer, and the Blazers get nothing out of it. In what bizzaro world does that make sense?
Personally, I love this. Rudy continues to think he has leverage. Really, his leverage is equivalent to my chance of scoring with Portia de Rossi. Ain't a snowballs chance in hell. I am still wondering what the fuck Portland management is up to. But for me, if they don't back down and give in to Rudy's bitchiness, that'll do a lot to earn back credibility with me. Really, what leverage does Rudy have? He's killed his potential trade value, so Portland can't get anything for him. He's a 10th-11th man on our roster. FIBA honors his contract. So if Portland has him wrapped up for 2 more years, and he says he won't report, let his ass sit for 2 years. I've heard reports say he could potentially earn significantly more in Spain....... Well if he can't sign in Spain due to FIBA..... Well, Rudy's going to do what he can do to avoid missing that potential revenue. We've got him bent over a barrel IF we want. Who cares what harm this could cause with our "prospects" overseas? They aren't that great. Rudy, you're under contract you big fucking douchebag. Honor it, beeyatch. I really hope Portland just sticks by their guns and either gets what they want for this prick or they tell him to "Show up or pay up."
I know a lot of people have worried about that. Not me. I like Rudy and all, but I sincerely doubt those other guys are near the prima dona's Rudy is. Rudy was king of Spain before coming here. Our other Euro prospects will be lucky to sniff an NBA court. IMO there is zero chance that however this ends with Rudy will have any affect on Kopenon or Freeland and their desire to come here.
That's exactly it. This is the MF'ing NBA. Either you want to be here, or you don't. Dudes that are worth having on your team know the politics, and everything that comes along with being on a professional team. I hardly think that Rudy's case is going to hurt Portland. Especially if anyone saw Rudy's performance when he was given the opportunity to have a bigger role. He pooped on it.
If Rudy is not traded or released, I have a feeling this will go to arbitration, with Rudy filing some kind of complaint in regards to fraud on the Blazers part. I suspect he will claim that the Blazers promised him things that were not delivered, and he signed his contract under the guarantee that he would be a significant part of the rotation.
You know, in the real world, if you are unhappy at your job, you don't get a new one by screaming from the rooftops that you are walking out and never coming back.
Rudy's Celebrity life is far from any of our "Real Words." I'm not justifying what he's doing as right, just shedding some light, on his perspective.
