This has absolutely nothing to do with Europeans and everything to do with Rudy being a prima-donna and not living up to his claims that he wants to play against the best in the world. Europeans are just as hard at pushing themselves as Americans in sports of any kind...

IMO most Americans don't understand that "American" mindset, which is why all your hi tech jobs are being taken by Indians, Russians and Chinese. But don't worry, you still lead the world in obesity.

No Americans understand that mindset exactly. That is why they are getting all those jobs. Why do a job I can contract out for less elsewhere? As long as the upper managements paycheck isn't being cut, they don't care. That, is america.

Wouldn't be easier if you just had a "I hate Nate thread" and posted your comments in that thread every day. Because your reasoning on this particular subject is just not sound. Seriously you think that Rudy shot poorly last year because Nate told the team to play more under control. And it had nothing to do with him missing a chunk of the season due to a back injury. And now because he doesn't give a shit, he is playing better?

Players do struggle at times. And guess what it is not usually the coaches fault. It's the players. The dude missed wide open shots last year that he normally buries. Whether it was mental or physical I don't know. Maybe it was just the "sophmore slump". But to blame Nate for that..... is ridiculous.

    You crack me up.

You hate the U.S. and have a mancrush on anything European. Even if in basketball, that European player you like absolutely sucks balls.

Americans are 7% of humanity but 90% of the media, so they cringe when they hear what the other 93% think.

I thought we were less than 7%, but whatever. Point taken. Though most of the time the 93% don't get to hear what the 90% media are saying, so it's about as useful and informed as if I was opining about the effects of Global Warming (I mean, climate change) on Svalbard's coastlines. I mean, are you tuning in to some of the spin Al-jazeera puts on news stories?

I tried to stay neutral and I think Jaynes had a bias opinion going into it that there wasn't going to be a good outcome for his perspective (or even for most of the casual fans listening that were bound to be swayed by Jaynes post-interview comments).

My thoughts on the interview were that he was pretty straight-forward. He wanted to just lash out at media calling Rudy a baby and asking for a Kleenex because they don't understand what was actually going on in Spain regarding Rudy’s particular situation. IE - It could be his mother is dying back in Spain and he wants to be with her for her last couple years, or maybe he fell madly in love (which we all know sometimes trumps career or school plans) and got her pregnant and wants to do the right thing and raise the child. That said, if it were either of those things, Rudy should have come out from the start and said that, so it wasn’t such a mystery or sound like he’s just wanting to go back to play a weaker style of ball.

His agent almost implied that it was something secret that they couldn’t talk about (like mafia related) because he was saying that the personal issues in Rudy’s life have “escalated” over the last four months to the point where he can no longer even accept a trade to a quick airport hub city and now needs to be back in Spain.

So he did a good job at least explaining that it is completely a personal issue this has been getting worse to the point where he needed to go public with it to try and force the hand of management so he could take care of these personal issues. And then kept going on about personal issues meaning more than contracts (when Jaynes kept trying to compare it to him wanting to break a lease contract for a car – which really is a flawed argument since it is talking about property and not about the human factor) and that people shouldn’t judge him without knowing all the details.

He doesn't want to hear about other NBA teams, he just wants to go back to Spain.

Ok, then WTF was up with "his list of teams" he'd play for?

If Rudy really has a personal issue that he needs to address - all he needs to do is say it. But, we first heard he wants more minutes, than he did not see eye to eye with Nate, later he does not think he enjoys the NBA game. At some point - it's hard to tell what's right and what's wrong with Rudy, with LMA - he said it was something personal he had to take care of without getting into the details - with Rudy, it's hard to take it seriously because of the constant whining and changing story.

I like Rudy as a player, when he is on - he is one of the most fun players to watch - but the constantly changing story and continuous whining makes it very hard to like Rudy the person.

True. And I don't want to get into defending him. I'll still take what the agent says with a grain of salt.

It's sort of like Kobe saying the woman he raped was just a crazy fan making accusations, or for Bonds/Clemens/Lance Armstrong to say someone is lying to bring down their reputation. I don't want to sound like one of the blind homers of those athletes and say, "Oh, if they say it isn't true then it must not be true."

So this whole "personal issues that can't be discussed publically" thing could just be a smokescreen or the latest avenue they're trying to get out. But at the same time, we don't have a lot of overwhelming evidence like we ended up getting on Kobe, Bonds, Clemens, Armstrong, etc., and this is America, so I'd like to at least give them the benefit of the doubt for now and say he's innocent until proven guilty and at least provide him the respect any human being deserves before I call him a cry baby or whiner, not knowing that there is something crazy happening to his family back in Spain.

For fuck's sake, have looked at where the US stacks up in terms of education, compared to most European countries? The words "pushing yourself" and "work" don't quite wash.

I tried tuning into the interview with the agent this morning, but realized I was listening to two assholes arguing, and decided to get to work instead.

    Yet you read message boards?

We don't want any players like that. Next, Rudy will say he needs to help Aldridge's mother. You remember. She started dying of cancer when Aldridge talked to reporters a week ago for the first time since turning down Coach K early in the summer.

Yawn. The other 93% think football (soccer) and cricket are the bees knees. We don't cringe, we fall asleep (unless there's beer!)

I hate Jaynes, the guy is a hole. However, he was right to ask the questions he did. The "agent" didn't understand that a contract is a contract - bizarre, really. The agent should also have brought up Derek Fisher, but as a European agent he may not have known about Derek's situation.

Who said I like any of you as people?

Don't put words in my mouth. I like Rudy, always liked him - and would actually not mind to have the Blazers release him if he really has an issue. This does not change the fact that I do not really respect him based on his "media performance" and whining.
