I dont' see how this trade would solve any of our problems.... it doesn't clear up our logjam at small forward... it doesn't make us better on the perimeter... and it costs us three of our best trade assets. I'm confused.

If system is the problem, I think Phoenix focusing the offense around Shaq is the issue more than pace.

I would rather keep Bayless, but the trade is intriguing.

Amare would look great next to Oden. Amare can also hit the 15-footer consistantly and he and Oden would be dunking on everyone in the league. Maybe the all time posterizing combination.

My only concern is Amare's defense, which everyone says is poor. I don't know if that is just D'Antoni left overs or if he could be much better. It would be interesting.

The Suns would do that and not look back. My guess is this rumor was leaked because it was proposed by the Suns and rejected by KP. The entire Courtside crew spent a lot of last nights show bashing Amare and saying how bad of a fit he'd be. I think the Blazers would try and get them to put out a positive spin if they were planning on making a trade.

This could also only be part of the story, Portland could be exploring a 3-way.

If Portland got Barbosa back with Amare, I'm much more on board.

    Wow highway robbery.

Amar'e is a team killer, and he can't play with (a rejuvenated) Shaq this year. What's to say he could play with Oden?

Amar'e is a poor defender... worse than Aldridge.

He's selfish as a person and a surly off-the-court person.

    F that.

I could swear I read where Amare was complaingin about the system Proter has implemented.

I did a qucik search and couldn't find it (maybe I read it here and though it was fact). Anyways I did find this (bummer for Porter):
    "
Sources close to the Suns front office tell me that Terry Porter hasn't lived up to expectations and has been given a list of specific things to improve on. Failure to perform could cost him his job.

Many blame Porter for not maximizing the talent on the roster and for not gaining the respect of his veteran players"

I'll look for Amare personally complaining about Porter . . . but maybe I'm wrong.

    Edit: I found this too:

After Friday's loss to Miami, Suns power forward Amaré Stoudemire expressed unhappiness with his role that he also shared in a Nov. 20 espn.com interview published Friday.

Asked after the game if the offense puts him in the right spots, Stoudemire said, "Sorta, kinda. Consistency for me would be great. That way, I know what to look forward to and how to attack. That way, when I do get it, I'm not off-balance or surprised I have it."

Asked if this system can provide him the chances he wants, he said, "I really don't know. I know I put in a lot of hard work this off-season to really take that next step, to really be in the class of the D-Wades (Dwyane Wade) and the LeBrons (LeBron James) and the Dwights (Dwight Howard). I put in the hard work this off-season to be in that class. Right now, I'm a little frustrated."

After making 9 of 21 shots in a Nov. 20 loss to the Lakers, Stoudemire mentioned those names to espn.com as "featured guys" to say how he wants to be the go-to guy in an offense that now starts with Shaquille O'Neal post-ups.

"I want to show the league and the world that I feel like my game has improved to that level," Stoudemire told espn.com.

He said the Lakers "were fluid, flowing . . . I remember when we looked like that."

He also talked to espn.com about free agency in 2010, when he can opt out of his contract. Such talk is bound to produce trade rumors with Stoudemire not rebounding and defending like a star. In recent games, his offensive involvement has curtailed.

"Absolutely!" Stoudemire told espn.com when asked if he thinks about 2010 free agency. "As a player, you should look at the teams you might want to play for. The city you may want to live in. The system you may want to play in. The economy. The cost of living. Everything. It's about what's best for you."

From a pure talent perspective, the trade is even. But I'd consider the trade only if Bayless wasn't involved. We'd be getting a top 5 PF to pair with our top 5 SG.

Is Amar'e a locker room cancer? Is his defense suspect? Would he fit in with Greg? I don't know. I'm sure KP knows more then me. But I do know that he is an incredible player and better then we can expect Aldridge to ever be (no offense to him).

I think it's Phoenix who is asking for that package from us. Not the other way around. The source must have gotten confused.

Yes, I wasn't disagreeing that Amare was unhappy with the system. My point was that if the system is what is hurting his numbers, I think it is more the Suns' (Porter's) reliance on Shaq, rather than slower pace.

Could he work with Oden? I guess it's a reasonable question.

Or purposely leaked false information to raise bidding by other teams.

Dallasbasketball.com called an Amare/Aldridge trade last week...

CBSsports.com is now calling an Amare/Aldridge+others trade...

Where there is smoke there is fire?

Should we not get the best team possible because of a coach who has an expiring contract relatively soon?

KP should get the best players that fit together possible, and then he should hire a coach that can lead them. He should not, IMO, get a coach (especially one with no track record of success) and then tailor his acquisitions around that coach.

What teams has he killed? I don't really know what you're talking about.

It looks like Kerr and Porter that have killed the Suns to me.
