Mills is like the glue of the team, and Babbitt was the best shooter in the draft last year....something we desperately need. I also think Roy would have a hard time with Lebron taking shots from him and handling the ball. If that's the deal, I say no. I mean what has he won? We need guys with championship pedigrees

That's true. Plus, the guy has a slutty mom. We don't need that kind of morals bringing our team down. Just look what she did to Delonte West!

LeBron is a good 2nd fiddle... who do we get for a #1 option?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
They do it because his contract is nearly up. Players don't have static value to teams...their value is fluid based on their contract status. You can't compare just Howard's ability and (in this case) Bynum's ability. You have to view it as "a few months of Howard" (at the trade deadline, say) versus a few years of Bynum. The much longer amount of time closes the gap in quality quite a bit, since Bynum is also very good.

I don't think Orlando moves Howard too much prior to the next trade deadline, which is why I say "a few months." If they traded him now, his value would be higher, but I'm not sure they want to give up on retaining him this early.

Obviously, with a healthy Oden, you say no. As he is? I think you have to say yes, if Howard extends. The league is built on stars. Aldridge looks like he is on his way, but Howard is there, and there's always the potential of others wanting to play with him. I don't think there's many lining up to play with Aldridge. Not a knock on LMA at all. But it's true.

That is an excellent point. Hey I truly truly love Aldridge, and I have high hopes for Oden. The key is Oden isn't the Oden we expected. At least right now. Maybe he gets there in 2-3 years, maybe he stays an injury waiting to happen. Aldridge would be the key piece I would be upset losing, but.... If you are to get a player in the Howard category, you would be dumb not to do that deal.

Maybe 3 years down the road, you look back at this deal and say "Wow Orlando got hosed!" or "Damn I really wish we didn't do that deal" as Oden is getting 25/15/3 and Aldridge 20/10. But really is the later gonna happen?

Yeh! This one almost sounded as wild as one of my trade proposals!

Any lineup with Camby as a starter can't be that deadly. The lineup above has Howard, Camby and Wallace as out only big men.. Wallace is not a big man and Camby is 38 years old and declining fast.

So you would be against the deal then? Frankly, I have no idea why anyone would be against this trade, especially knowing that Oden is such a question mark. History so far proves that we may never see a healthy Oden. Howard hardly ever misses games and he is a fucking tank! I'm sure Brass would have no problem trying to find a replacement at PF and I suspect if this deal was ever possible; they would jump on it in a second.

I didn't say I would be against it. We would need to acquire another decent big man somehow though or I don't think we would be that good.

Yeah I would think we need to get a big man to help out. The good thing with having a player like Howard on payroll, is you have more incentive for vets that want to win. I think some may even take less to be on a winning organization.

I could see them doing that for the Lakers and dominating the west if we sent them there. Gosh that would suck so much.

I don't see Portland doing anything to make the Lakers better. Portland would never intentionally give L.A. Oden and LMA.

Every pie-in-the-sky trade proposal deserves it's own thread, as does any thread referencing a trade rumor that is misunderstood by the OP.

This trade will never, ever happen, yet here we are hand-wringing and arguing about it!

Yea, but we'd be a legit contender actually. Hard to be a rivalry when one team isn't a threat to win it all.
