Rush has been dumped: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/10219272/Reports:-Group-will-drop-Limbaugh-from-Rams-bid My favorite quote from the article: I guess Reverend Al will never own a team.
Really? You think most of America thinks those guys are bigger assholes? I'd bet that most people don't even know who they are. Besides, your argument seems to be that because there are assholes already managing teams, they should welcome with open arms more assholes. One thing I've noticed in my dealings with many, many assholes: as repugnant as they are to me, they tend to be even more repugnant to each other.
Well, most of the Metroplex and the Washington, DC metropolitan area know those two are far bigger assholes. My point was that being an asshole has little if anything to do with owning an NFL team.
Ah, poor multi-millionaire Limbaugh. Unable to make even more money trying to keep a team in a city that doesn't deserve it. Time to move back to LA, Rams.
Limbaugh wasn't talking about James Earl Jones??? He's a great actor, loved him in Field of Dreams! Nice personal attack there, BTW
Limbaugh dropped from group seeking to buy Rams http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091015/D9BB767G0.html The dream is over...
If the NFL thought he would embarrass the league, then yes. My guess is that they wouldn't think so, because Soros keeps a much lower profile than Mr. Limbaugh. But if they did think so, they should give him the boot too. Is Soros part of the investment group, or is this a hypothetical? barfo
Regarding Soros, two wrongs don't make a right. If you're going to stand on principle, sometimes you have to turn the other cheek. Don't raise a stink about it and if Soros becomes an NFL owner, so be it.
I read somewhere that there was speculation that Soros was involved. I agree with Maxie, two wrongs don't make a right. As a life-long Rams fan, I am not too thrilled about George owning part of my team.
Not a fan of the article, because the use of Little and Vick doesn't work so well. If there was some rule in the NFL that Limbaugh absolutely could not own the team, then I would agree. There isn't. Checkets could have left him on the ownership group, could have given it a run, and quite possibly, could have gotten the 24 or 25 votes he needed to buy the franchise. Maybe not. We heard from I believe one owner in irsay. I don't recall seeing others come out. Not the 8 or whatever that would be needed to vote it down. As is, Limbaugh is ALLOWED the opportunity to try to purchase a team, and it goes to a vote of the owners. Much rthe same way Michael Vick was allowed the opportunity to try to get a job in the NFL. Teams came out and said they would not take a chance on Vick. Over 20 teams said so. But the opportunity was there. Teams vote down owners occasionally. Generally, it's because they're looking at their pocketbook, and not their politics, IMO. As for Al Sharpton, fuck, I would hope like hell to never see him as an owner in any sport I liked.
nope... dude wiffs on addressing why owners (through their puppet Goodell) don't want Rush. He'd be a PR nightmare for their league. Dude has proven he can't shut the fuck up about race... he's like a fat kid in a candy store unable to help himself. Besides all the dirty laundry he'd bring to the table, NFL owners would have to own all the other ridiculous stuff he'd say into the future. The next time he's celebrating America losing the Olympics (or some such crap), thats on them and their league to answer for. The Rams want to make a change at QB, do they (or the league) want to deal with the race questions that would ensue because of his comments on Donavan McNabb during his short failed stretch on MNF? Of course not. It's a free country, but this is business and he's been judged to be bad for it by those running it. Owners don't need to take on a liability like Rush as there are plenty of other rich guys who'd love to pay them for the privilege of riding the business they've built. STOMP
Just remember your position the next time a company is sued for discrimination, because that's become your stance.
