Convo probably went like this Olshey: Hey, wanted to know how Noel is doing Colangelo : We want CJ... Hello... Olshey? That SOB hung up on me.
PHI couldn't move Okafor for a mid 1st round pick back in June, and they value Oakfor more than Noel. No way would they seriously demand C.J. for Noel. Crabbe (plus maybe CLE's 1st round pick) should be enough. BNM
They might not even get Crabbe. Let's see what other teams are offering before we just throw his name out there. I think a non lottery first rounder is going to be the highlight of any package they get for him. Philly really doesn't have any leverage and everyone knows they won't pay him either.
I'm hoping they take Crabbe so we aren't stuck with his contract. We'd get back Noel AND $14.1 million in cap space (Crabbe's $18.5 million - Noel's $4.4 million). That should be more than enough to re-sign Noel without going over the LT threshold. Hell, if we can jetison Crabbe's contract, and Noel doesn't break out, with the cap going up again, we could probably sign re-sign Noel and someone with the MLE without going over the new LT threshold. BNM .
Sure I want him but the bottom line is he is a center who weighs under 230. if he plays PF smart teams will just take him away from the basket where his shot blocking ability won't help. My point is, don't give up too much to get him. But do try to get him.
Beat me to it. PHI is $16.6 million under the cap. Let's use that to our advantage. A straight Crabbe for Noel swap still leaves them $2.5 million under the cap and helps us out a LOT. BNM
Hey, I would give up crabbe for Noel but if we don't have to, then we shouldn't. The nets will still want Crabbe next year (they have no draft picks, it's the only way they can upgrade) and I don't think his contract is as untradeable as some of you think
Same weight as Marcus Camby. Ideal center for today's NBA. Great rim protector, great in the pick and roll and great getting hands in the passing lanes. He was the only player in the entire NBA to have at least 100 BLKs and at least 100 STLs the last two seasons (at the ages of 20 and 21). And, he did it last season in just 67 games while playing out of position at PF. Move him back to his preferred center position and his totals should be closer to his rookie year when he had 133 STLs and 142 BLKs and was 4th in the entire league in Defensive Box Plus/Minus (he was 8th last year - still very respectable, in spite of playing out of position). BNM
Shhhhhh... don't tell BRK, but the way Crabbe has played these first 200 games, they can get a D League, min salary scrub that will produce just as well. I say we dump that contract the first chance we get, and if it nets us a player that fills a need, like Noel, all the better. BNM
Well, that would make his averages 0.89 ppg, 0.27 rpg and 0.14 apg. So, yeah his contract would be even worse. He's paid by the year, not by the game. BNM
