I tell you what, I'll take that 73 degree weather every day. Had a fantastic week down there.

I can never decide how I feel about SD. I only go down there for work, and in my off hours on business trips I usually just go and work some more, so im a horrible work tourist. I dont think Ive ever been down there when the weather is bad, I think the food is slightly over rated. The hotels are like 100x nicer than most places I go to for work stuff. Overall its not my favorite stop, but its ok. Im very strange when it comes to traveling though.

That place is getting so crowded. They keep building and building on that hill.

Accidentally ended up at an open house for a $3m dollar house. It was a gated community and they didn't say how much the houses cost. Cool view, at the very top of the hill.

Dunno, was looking at different areas out there to see if anything is a good value to buy. Not so much. Also hit up the Cedros Design District in Solana Beach last time, that was cool.

Back to the topic, that San Diego trip didn't do much to keep the Blazers focused in the playoffs that year

What's next for the Trail Blazers in the immediate future?

According to McCollum there will "probably" be a team-bonding trip to San Diego.

At the Trail Blazers practice facility on Wednesday afternoon, the Blazers held a press conference to officially announce McCollum's extension.

McCollum and Trail Blazers President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey discussed the extension and offered up their thoughts on the offseason overall.

It sounds like team building might be in order with just half the roster returning.

"I'm going to call Dame later today," McCollum said at Wednesday's press conference. "I think he's in Phoenix right now… I'm going to talk to him and see what he wants to do. " McCollum said.

McCollum went on to say with a big smile, "My schedule is pretty clear except for some Brown games, and vacation with my fiancée, so September is usually where I start two-a days and stuff like that."

McCollum also mentioned that Trail Blazers Director of Security Rick Riley has suggested another San Diego trip or some type of outing.

"I think it could be very beneficial just because this is the first time in awhile where we had half the roster change. So, being able to kind of get more acclimated with everybody could be beneficial," McCollum said.

Portland's roster will consist of six new faces.

It's interesting that CJ suggested that. Damian was asked at his presser and shot it down.

I don't think it's necessary with vets who've been around the league....guys like Rodney and Pau don't need bonding trips in my view....better they come into Portland early and build some chemistry ON THE COURT! Play some basketball and get the rest and treatment they'll need for the regular season grind. In my view the last thing these guys need before camp is more travel.

I disagree River-My-Man. What they do on the court is more competitive than bonding. It's the off-court stuff where you create positive relationships and trust and understanding of personalities and a whole bunch of other stuff. Veterans or not, IMO a non basketball team retreat is in order.

Bond in Portland...avoid any unnecessary travel....these guys live a jet lagged life already....they can dine together...go fishing, whatever...I just don't see why San Diego is that place....spend those dollars in Oregon.....plenty to do right here...California doesn't lack for tourist dollars last time I checked and this it the best time of year to be in Oregon

I don't think anyone is saying it has to be San Diego specifically. Just a bonding trip of some sort. Go up to Mount Hood and ride the Alpine slides. Go out to the Dalles and windsurf. Whatever--just something like the San Diego trip they've done the past couple years.

Yep, been to San Diego many times following my kids to various soccer tournaments and my wife and I always marveled at the constant mid 70 degree weather pretty much all year round. Loved to go to LaJolla and hang out for a day on the beach and walking through the town. One year my daughter played in a tournament right across the street from Coronado Beach. Nothing like watching soccer games while gazing at the ocean surf. We stayed a few extra days and rented a jet ski and spent a few hours on Mission Beach as well.

I suppose from a negative point of view one would try and make that conclusion but in reality, it had nothing to do with the playoff results and their focus. Maybe one can conclude without that trip the team doesn't make the playoffs.
