...Al, we've been down this road before and we will root for our team as we see fit...if you choose to sing a chorus of Kumbaya concerning the Yanx, well, that's up to you. But personally I couldn't give 2 shits about the Mets or any other team doing. The Yanx are staring at maybe being out of the PS if they don't start winning at much better clip...they're been a .500 team over the last 30 games and have gone from leading the division by 2 games (4 in the loss column) to trailing Boston by 5 1/2-6 games...and if you're OK with that too, again, fine...but don't tell us how we should feel about this team.
Arent u a bit touchy..geez I didnt tell you or anyone else how to cheer or not to cheer.. But you would think its the end of the world when the yanks have the THIRD best record in MLB..a 646 winning % with Winning records against boston and houston the two teams with better overall records currently. 646 winning % would have been the best record in baseball in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005.... Only the 2004 cards had a better winning percentage in the last 14 years.
My theme is fuck the other teams I care about the Yankees. You can't say 27 Championships with conviction when your last was 9 years ago. And yeah when I see my team get its ass kicked continually by Tampa & Baltimore I get really pisses. And when the alleged HOF catcher on my team fails to hustle on plays twice in one game I really get smoking. That catcher embarrassed his team, it's fans now a laughing stock of others. Manager does nothing. I want to see this team out taking names and kicking ass like the great Yankees Teams I've seen since '55. I'm not high on Boone either, Girardi should have been the one to transition this team over but they chose Boone. An I too believe that if a turn around is not made they could be on the outside looing in this October. Like the song goes "we'll root, for the home Team" fuck the others.
...uhhh, no, I'm not touchy at all, just telling it like it is. Who said it was "the end of the world"?...has anyone here thrown in the towel, has anyone ere stopped rooting for the Yankees?...not sure why you correlate pointing out things that we are displeased with as being "the end of the world". ...and yes, Al...I can read the standings too and I'm well aware of their record and winning percentage is. Do you know what their record was "30 games" ago?...like I said, they've been playing .500 ball for the last month or so and I'm sorry to break it to you but if they continue at that clip they won't finish with ".646 winning %" so your point concerning that is moot. ...again, wave your pom poms all you want if it makes you feel better but many of us feel differently.
fwiw, I'm still pissed about Sanchez and still not buying him being on the DL with a groin problem...but I guess that's the Yanx' way of sweeping things under the rugs and avoid publicly chastising Sanchez for his sloth. ...Physically, I don't think there's anything wrong with him and maybe, just maybe, Yanx management decided to tell Sanchez that in lieu of suspending/benching/fining him, the were going to give him a "time out" by putting him on the DL and telling him to take his ass home and get his mind right and for him to decide if he really wants to be a part of this organization...and re-evaluate him upon his return and any further lapses in hustle would result him being demoted to the minors until which time he proved himself to be worthy of wearing the pinstripes.
The problem Al, isnthat we are the third best team in the AL, not the league and we have been losing ground. That’s a concern, whether you want to agree with people or not. As has been stated, we have been a .500 team lately. While others ahead of us and behind us have been getting better we keep floundering with little to no direction. Our starting pitching is not improving, but we keep throwing Cessa and German out there coupled with Gray. Our hitting is suffering, we DH Walker. Just a lot of head scratching moves that this team has (and has not) been making lately.
Another thought for thee Yankees diminishing record. Seattle & now Oakland are hanging right in there for that Wild Card Slots. The Yankees have 6 games back to back against those teams starting three September. Remember last year when the Yankees went 1-6 vs the Angels and A's, not pleasant then and less pleasant now the A's have improved. The Judge/Stanton as Mantle and Maris idea to this point has gone astray along with other offensive shortcomings have come into play since 1 July. If this team doesn't start kicking ass they could find themselves on the out side looking in!!!!
Remember when at the beginning of the season they played like garbage then started winning like what 12 or 13 straight series..its a 162 season and u have highs and lows..i would love to aee if there is a stat out there where a team was wining at a 64% rate at the allstar game ends up. Is this team perfect..hell no..but its not horrible...im not concerned..6 games up from being out of the playoffs... If we its too far of a reach to finish first it should be just as too far to fall out of the playoffs.
...Al, seriously, wtf does the past have to do with now? ...and who in the hell said this team is "horrible"?...please stop making shit up and putting words into people's mouths that they did not say.
Would you prefer him to have said ",the team is not as bad as you imply"? If so, then you are being touchy.
...lol...and you are being picky...not sure what your point is. ...sorry, but there's no time machine, but if he had actually said that instead, I probably would not have even replied...clear it up any?
Our SP's have thrown 909.0 Innings, only the Royals, Jays and Pale Hose SP Staff has thrown less....regardless of other SP stats, the Yanx Sp staff can't stay on the mound long enough to really expose their one true weakness..... call it a good thing, I call it a chink in the armor....
...Matts, the problem I have with the strategy of having a starter go 5 inning then go to the BP for the rest of the game is that if you have 4 relievers finish the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th innings and possibly extra innings, my thinking is that on any given night there' a good chance at least one of them will have a bad outing and get hammered. ...not to mention that the BP will be gassed by September.
