the CURRENT traditional way, or the actual traditional way? Because the actual traditional way is more like what Franken (or Sonny Bono, or others) did, than the way that the current crop of younger politicians did.

    Sure.

How about serving in the town council first. Get some training before trying to serve in an important office like senator.

I'm not so sure thats a valid requirement anymore. And not only because congress doesn't do shit anymore, but most of the things they DO do, (hehe, i said do do) they have teams to do it now.

I'd like to see what Franken has done, as a senator, that proves he's wasn't qualified.

If the Federal Government didn't already have my fingerprints, I wouldn't engage the ID on the phone.

You wrote three sentences. In two of them you asked if Franken is qualified and also pointed out congress doesn't do shit anymore. Maybe the former has something to do with the latter.

Besides the fact that I'm not sure that Al Franken can be blamed for "60 being the new 51"....I would think the groups of people that are actually causing Congress to do nothing, aren't harvard alumni..just saying. And I doubt they're doing it for any other reason than partisanship.

What can you point to that shows he's been a good senator? Seriously, passing a budget is his primary job and he's failed at it. If he's typical of those we elect, we elect bozos (but I knew that already).

No excuses. Every one of those guys has a price. Give something up to the republicans and you get their votes.
