Politics School walkouts

I served in the Army as a Military Policeman and can safely say that I would not want 90% of those people I served with anywhere near children while they were armed. Curious if ou served as well making a statement like this?

Great question. Asked myself the same thing every night before bed. Rednecks from down south that literally called me a "ni88er lover" because of the music I listened to and that I like to play basketball. And then those same individuals were handed loaded M203s the very next day right next to me. Close minded individuals that I would never let around me or family in the real world today. In my opinion, uneducated people that wanted a reason to kill those different than them.
When we were two weeks into boot camp, Sadahm Hussein (sp) rolled into Kuwait City...... I actually heard a bunch of guys talking about how they can't wait to, "skin them some towel heads".........

I'll be just fine if no ex military peeps roam the halls of my kid's schools with guns thank you.

 

Must be a generational thing. I have brothers from all over the world.

In my 4 years I can only think of a couple people that some of us thought were closet racists..

 

This is how these mass murderers are created.

Public school teachers encourage them to throw a tantrum as their response to pretty much everything, then applaud them when they do.

 

I am not a veteran but 90% of my friends and my wife are veterand. While some have foul mouths theres not a single one i wouldnt trust to protect kids. My wife does her own charities every year and rounds up coats, shoes, and gloves for kids. Im pretty sure she'd be a fantastic school cop.

 

What was your job in the military? I was an MP. I was with people who tested thru the roof for type “A”, aggressive, need to be in charge of somebody type personalities. I wasn’t with men who tested strong to become cooks, or office workers. I think that was part of the issue.

 

I think that you can not judge an entire population by pre-selecting the sample you base your conclusions on (that's basic statistics there). This is called a biased sample.

 

Just so you know, I wasn’t questioning the vets in your life. Wanted to make sure you are aware that just because they served their country doesn’t mean they are squared away.
My opinion on this whole situation........ It would be great to get rid of all the guns everywhere. I feel society would be safer that way. I actually have lost more close friends growing up getting shot in NE Portland over the years, than I did in the military if you can believe that. Literally every one of them would be alive if there were no guns on the streets. That said, I understand people’s “wanting” them. I don’t feel people “need” them. Just my opinion. I know we can’t ban guns, but I am all for making it harder for them to get their hands on them. Whatever it takes. Make it as difficult as possible.
You disappointed me yesterday when you and others were blasting the kids who were voicing their opinions about the gun situation. They are using the same rights to be heard as you and your friends are to carry. Don’t understand why you guys on here were so upset at them. I would be so proud of my kids if they felt so strongly about ANY topic. Strong enough to share their values and beliefs like that to the public.
I have two kids who go to schools here in town. My youngest one is 12 and she came up to us the other night and looked me in my eyes and asked if she should be worried about somebody at her school doing the same to her and her friends. Man, I don’t know if you have children, but that was a blow straight to the gut. For somebody like myself who has put country before himself to defend people rights, this one hurt. I don’t want my little girl even thinking about something like that happening to her in a place she should feel safe.
I’ve seen 2 people shot and killed in my life........ I do not want guns on our streets.
I wonder what it would take to change the minds of people like yourself who so strongly believe they should be.

Seeing what hot rounds do to human skin did it for me.

You and the others have every right to your opinions obviously, but maybe step back a bit and see where those with differing views are coming from. Especially on such a heated topic. This goes for both sides of this debate. The hatred around here honestly scares me sometimes.

My oldest high-school had a scare a couple of days ago - that she actually came and asked me if she should skip school - since it seemed that the school district and PD were on the case and made sure to be there in force - she went - but told me that a lot of her classes were half empty. Crazy.

Man... yes to every word of this, and thank you for your service. Guns in schools isn't something your little girl, my little boy, and every other child on this planet should ever have to worry about.

I think what makes me so disappointed and frustrated is people like @MarAzul who pretend to want to discuss the issues, when in all actuality just want to... I don't know, feel superior? I actually prefer the idiotic "cuck" nonsense of people like @rasheedfan2005 and @Nate because it lets me know that they can be immediately dismissed when wanting to have a serious discussion. They clearly don't care what people think of them or their bizarre "insult" (?) A real, realistic, common sense/common grounds dialog -- like one @MarAzul pretended to want to have is absolutely what this topic needs and I felt like I did everything I could to have that with him/the board... Too bad...
